Lexi's POV
I went into the girl's bathroom, wondering if there was any clue about the Chamber and why it's been opened. I walk around the sinks and down past the stalls, until I come across a wet book. Possibly a diary or journal of some sort. I open it to find it blank. Oh, come on! The one lead I might have turns out to be a dud. I take it with me, thinking I could use it for something, and decide to show Harry. I run back to the Gryffindor Tower, book tucked under my arm.
"Harry! Harry!" I called out, urgently.
"What is it, Lexi?" Harry asked, running towards me.
"I found this book, and it might be useful." I showed him the book. We sat down at a desk together, opening to find, like before, nothing.
"There's nothing written in it," Harry stated as he quickly flipped through the pages of the book. He stopped at the back of the book, examining it, "It says Tom Marvolo Riddle."
"That's probably who owned it," I said.
"Let's write something." Harry suggested. I nodded and grabbed my ink and quill. I dipped the quill in ink and wrote, Hi, at the top of the first page. The writing suddenly disappeared, like it sunk into the book. I looked through the pages, seeing if the writing moved, as new writing appeared.
Hello, Harry and Alexandria.
Holy crap, this is getting really creepy.
Who are you? I wrote back, after the writing disappeared. My writing sunk in as more words appeared.
I am Tom Riddle. The writing answered. This diary is our only lead to the Chamber of Secrets mystery, so I might as well ask if Tom Riddle knows anything.
Do you know anything about the Chamber of Secrets? I asked.
Yes. The book answered, vaguely.
Can you tell us? I wrote back, hoping for a straightforward, informative answer.
No. The book answered. Great. But I can show you. This book might actually give us information. But, how will it show us? Let me take you back to Hogwarts, fifty years ago.
Suddenly, the pages flipped through to a few pages before the end of the book, the date, '13th June' appearing in the top right corner. I was too afraid to touch it, so Harry and I just stared at it. All fo a sudden, a light appeared from in between the two pages, seemingly tearing the book in half with its light. I was sucked into the book, being transported somewhere.
I landed in a corridor of Hogwarts, but it looked different. A hand grabbed my arm and I turned around startled, but it was Harry wanting to stick together in this older Hogwarts. We walked forward until we saw a boy standing at the top of the stairs.
"Hello? Are you Tom Riddle?" Harry asked, with no response.
"Hey, idiot!" I yelled. "Sorry Harry, that usually catches people's attention."
"We must be invisible." Harry concluded.
We looked where the boy was looking to see four men carrying a stretcher with a sheet on it. As the men were walking towards us at the bottom of the stairs, I saw an arm poking out under the sheet. I gasped as I realised the person under the sheet was dead. It was most likely a student, as well. What did Malfoy say? A Mudblood.
I ran up the stairs holding Harry's hand, heading towards the boy. Suddenly, a deep voice called out from the top of the next flight of stairs,
"Riddle!" Dumbledore called out. So that boy was Tom Riddle. Dumbledore motioned for Tom to go to him.
"Professor Dumbledore," Tom said, nodding solemnly before walking up to Dumbledore.
"It is not safe the be wandering around at this late hour," Dumbledore scolded.
"Yes, Professor," Tom replied, "I just...I had to see if the rumors were true," What rumors? Harry and I looked confusedly at each other.
"I'm afraid they are, Tom," Dumbledore replied, serious. "They are true,"
"About the school, as well?" Tom asked. "I don't have a home to go to. They wouldn't really close Hogwarts, would they, Professor?"
"I understand, Tom, but I'm afraid...but it's not up to me. It's up to the Headmaster," Dumbledore replied. If Dumbledore wasn't Headmaster, then who was.
"If it all stopped, if the person responsible was caught..." Tom trailed off.
"...Is there something you wish to tell me?"
"No, Sir," Tom replied, innocently, "Nothing."
Dumbledore analysed Tom speculatively, before relaxing, "Very well, then. Off you go," Dumbledore dismissed Tom.
"Goodnight, Sir," Tom said, politely, before walking away. I pulled Harry along as I ran after Tom, following him. I thought he was going to the Common Rooms, but we headed in a different direction, heading down a small flight of spiral stairs in an open, unused corridor. Tom headed down towards another corridor, only to cross the corridor and stand in front of a door. He looked around cautiously before pulling out his wand. He opened the door, wand ready.
"Evening, Hagrid," Tom said. Harry and I both looked at each other in confusion again, before following Tom into this room. Hagrid was standing in the room, protecting a crate. "I'm going to have to turn you in, Hagrid," What? Turn him in for what? "I don't think you meant it to kill anyone," What is Tom talking about?
"You can't! You don't understand!" Hagrid was scared.
"The dead girl's parents will be here tomorrow. The least Hogwarts can do is make sure the thing that killed their daughter is slaughtered," Tom is outright evil, now. Hagrid wouldn't let anything of his hurt anyone.
"It wasn't him. Aragog never killed no one!" Hagrid testified.
"Stand aside, Hagrid," Tom ordered.
"No!" Hagrid defended.
Stand aside now, Hagrid,"
"No!" Hagrid defended, yet again.
Tom cast a spell which flung Hagrid to the side, then firing another spell that blasted the crate open. A spider, probably what was called Aragog, crawled out of the crate and scuttled out the door we came in and down the corridor.
"You'll be expelled for this, Hagrid." Tom clarified.
"But it wasn't me or Aragog!"
Suddenly, Harry and I were being pulled back by nothing. The vision must be over. We were sucked out of old Hogwarts and back into the Common Room where we were before.
"Tom Riddle is an evil asshole." I concluded. Harry nodded in agreement.
