~Eric’s POV~
I was sat right across from Kaede… He doesn’t look too happy to be seated across from me though, it’s the same when he sits anywhere near people, he doesn’t like it at all. But it’s not like he knows who I truly am, I was the guy he liked texting, I was Aroon. It’s not like I’m lying to him about my name, Aroon is my middle name… I don’t know how to tell him that I was Aroon tho, he might think I’m weird. I like him too much for him to think that.
We’ve been talking for a few months now, he’s different from when he texts and when he’s in school. I don’t know which one is his true self. It was proven people are themselves online, but still. I know he’s gay, and yet, he doesn’t know I am… I am in such a weird position right now. I don’t know what I’ll do when he finds out…
“Eric!” I heard the teacher's voice call out to me. I jerk my head up looking at the teacher. “I’ve been saying your name for the past minute, get your head out of the gutter.” The teacher hissed as everyone in the class laughed.
“Sorry.” I said then I looked at Kaede, his head was on the table, his eyes closed. My heart fluttered. “Cute.” I thought to myself. His light brown hair covered most of his eyes as he laid quietly on his desk.
“Kaede! Wake up!” The teacher said raising her voice. Kaede’s eyes had flung open seeing the teacher right in front of him. His face flushed red of embarrassment it seemed and he glared down at his desk. I chuckled and he grew even more red than before. Before I knew it, the bell had rung. Kaede had already disappeared out of the crowded door.
“Hey dude!” My friend Tommy called out to me wrapping his arm around my neck.
“Hey, how’s it goin?” I smiled flinging my arm over his shoulder.
“The usual, trying to pick up hot girls. Which reminds me!! I got Jenns number!!”
“You serious?! Congrats dude, that was your 15th attempt on trying to get it, did you check to make sure it was her number?”
“CRAP!” He quickly grabbed his phone and enter then number.
Messages:
Tommy: Hey Jenn, it’s me!
Person: Yo dude, I’m sorry but she gave you a fake number…
“It was fake!” Tommy said sulking as he leaned against the wall. I heard his phone vibrate and he looked back down at it.
Person: I understand how that feels brother…
I tried with everything I had not to laugh but it all just came out.
“Dude, I am so sorry.” I laughed as tears rolled down my cheek.
“I should be the one crying, not you asshole!” Tommy pouted then stormed down the hall.
“Someone’s salty!” I yelled on the top of my lungs getting everyone's attention.
“Shut it!” I heard Tommy’s voice from down the hallway. I could help but laugh once more. I walked to the locker rooms for p.e only to see Kaede walk in front of me. I smiled hearing his music blasting. His locker was in the same row as mine. It was as if we were destined to be together, or that’s at least how I liked to think about. After we got finished dressing and went into the gym after warm up, I realized Kaede was wearing black sweats a size to big for him and a long black sleeve.
“We are playing dodgeball!” The p.e teacher announced. I heard the whole class excited and I was once I saw Kaede and I were on the same team. As the game got more intense, it was down to me and Kaede against Kyle, the pitcher for our high schools baseball team. I’m honestly surprised Kaede has lasted longer than most. I’ve never seen him participate in any school sports. While I was in deep thought, I felt a ball hit my stomach then hit the ground, but at the same time, I heard a ball hit someone on the other side of the court as well. Kaede had hit Kyle with a ball, which meant our team own.
“Eric and Kyle are out! Which means Kaede’s side won!” The p.e teacher smiled.
“You’ll pay for that emo freak!” I heard as Kyle looked at Kaede.
“Dude, it’s just a game, calm down.” I had said looking at Kyle.
“Keep out of it dude.” Kyle said glancing at me then glaring at Kaede. Kyle stomped his way towards the locker room not coming back out.
“You okay Kaede?” I asked putting my hand on his shoulder only to feel him wincing then walked away nodding. 5 minutes went by and we went back to the locker rooms. When I walked down my row, I saw black clothes rip and scattered all over the bench. Kaede walked in right behind me.
“Damn it!” I heard him whisper as he walked passed me. He picked up the clothes on the benches and the floor. His jaw was clenched, his hands turned into fist, clenching so hard, they turned white.
“I told you to you would pay.” I heard Kyle’s voice from behind me. My blood turned from calm to boiling in under seconds. I saw Kaede set his ripped up clothes beside him on the bench and pulled out another set from his backpack. “I need to calm down.” I had thought to myself. “This bastard needs to pay!” Kaede had changed into another pair of black skinny jeans, and another Set It Off sweatshirt.
“Little bastard, you think that’s funny?!” Kyle hissed. He picked up Kaede off the ground, his feet a few inches off the ground. “How’s this for funny?” Kyle psychotically smiled, as if he was going to devour him in one bite. And that’s when I lost it. My fist punching acrossed kyles face, sending him flying into the lockers. I heard Kaede stand up coughing.
“Are you okay Kaede?” I asked helping him up.
“Don’t touch me!” Kaede said pushing against my chest. His eyes covered with fear, as if I was going to hurt him as well.
“It’s okay, its me.” I said taking another step towards him, but he had already dashed out of the locker room.
“What is going on in here?!” Our gym teacher asked raising an eyebrow at me and Kyle.
“Nothing sir.” Kyle said glaring daggers at me. “Nothing at all.”
“Good, now get to class!” The teacher raised his voice then walked out of the locker rooms. I had changed back into my normal clothes and stormed out of the locker room, slamming the door.
“Has it always been like this with him. A boy hows quiet, shy, awkward, and yet sweet. Then there's me, outgoing, not shy, and not awkward. Two different guy, complete opposites and yet, attracted to each other.” I had thought to myself. I didn’t know how to comprehend this. No wonder why he doesn’t talk to anyone and have any friends…
I felt horrible for him, as if he’s been abandoned his whole. Him talking to a stranger as if they’ve been childhood friends. I need to tell him it’s me, but I don’t know how. And if I did, would he accept me, or everything go to hell for both of us? Everything in life was so complicated, why couldn’t it be much simpler? No! I have to tell him, or me being right beside him will vanish! I’ll tell him after school, I always see him walking out of the back gate to walk home. I could feel my heart almost pounding out of my chest, that’s when I’ll tell him!
A/N Thank you so much for reading this far. I know it isn't good yet but trust me, it'll get better. I like to start off slow and go with the flow then rush thru the story because then you can't relate much to it and you won't be able to see yourself as the main character and feel what he feels. Don't forget to vote (/◇~◇)/
