Chapter 31

John was at his job when he saw Alex and Pip walk in. Philip was super excited because today was the day of the school play and thanks to John he was able to overcome most of his anxiety allowing him to get the part of the cowardly lion. Theo was playing Dorothy so she was at home getting her hair done by Burr instead of playing with Pip.

John and Alex were helping Philip get into his costume and do his lion makeup when Laf and Herc arrived. "Bonjour!"

Philip ran over to him and hugged Laf. "Bonjour Uncle Laf. Hi Uncle Herc." He said smiling wide.

John stood up "Let's get going. Philip needs to be at school soon." He said grabbing his keys and wallet. Alex put on his glasses and smiled.

John looked at Alex and sighed. "Babe have you ever thought about going out without sunglasses on? Your eyes are so beautiful. I hate when you hide them."

Alex shook his head "John not today. I want the other parents to focus on Philips performance not my eyes. "

John sighed and kissed his forehead. They walked out of the house and drove Phillip to his school where Alex walked him back stage. Pip saw Theo and ran over giving her a big hug. Burr looked at the two and chuckled. "Alright Phillip, Theo has to have her hair put into braids. We cant have a Dorothy without braids now can we?"

Pip nodded and let his friend go as she skipped over to the chair she was once sitting in. Phillip brought the chair over and sat next to her. Alex walked over to Burr and shook his hand. "Hey Burr. Thanks for watching Pipe backstage so I can watch the show. I'll take them both for the show tomorrow night. "

Burr nodded and smiled. "No problem Alexander. Now go enjoy yourself. " He said finishing up Theo's hair.

Alex nodded and walked to the audience taking a seat next to John. They were in the second row right in the middle.

The show began and the kids began acting. When Philip walked on stage Alex grabbed John's hand and squeezed tightly. As Pip said his lines tears fell down Alexander's face.

The show ended Alex looked at everyone and hugged John tightly. "I-Im so proud of him!! Johnny did you see him up there he was incredible!!! I am so proud of him!! "

Philip than came out and ran over to his dad's. "Papa I did it! " He said. Alex pocked him up and hugged him. "You did so good Pip! I'm so proud of you! "

When they got home, after putting Philip to bed, Alex sat in his room. He was smiling wider than he ever had.

John came over and hugged him. He looked into Alexander's eyes and gasped. "You're eyes are gold! That wasn't on the list! "

Alex looked in the mirror. "Wow they are! ' he pulled out his list and wrote something down.

John looked over at the paper. Alex had added gold to it.
