My mother pulled me into a hug and said "Go and get your horse, I'll sort your things out" I nodded and darted off to the stables. When I got there I found Tristan crying with his forehead against the side of a stall. I walked up to him and pulled him into a hug, he wrapped his arms around me. Adam was his brother, he was an also archer. Adam had taught Tristan archery as well. He pulled away and stared into my eyes as he caressed my cheek. "I know it's hard, but we have to go" he sighed, I nodded, "Come on" he smirked, taking my forearm and leading me to Arion, like he did when he first gave me my horse. Arion had long strong legs, a shining mane and a midnight shimmering coat. Tristan gave me Arion's saddle and bridle, I fitted them on my horse and led him out. Tristan was leading out a horse with a black mane, tail, muzzle and stockings on all four legs and a grey coat. We led our horses to were we were told to meet. "Tristan" I began "can you secure my horse? I'll be back quickly" he nodded and took Arion's reins. I walked into my house were my mother gave me my black cloak and hugged me "Take care Arianna" she whispered, she drew back and Owen hugged me "Good luck" he drew back "Thank you" I smiled. I threw my cloak around me and headed outside. I took Arion's reins. The man who had announced the dead was checking our horses and handing out the dead's weapons. "Roe, Bow and arrows?" asked a man with someone behind him that was holding all the weapons, I nodded. Saddness appeared in the man's eyes. "He was a fine archer" he clicked his fingers and the man holding the weapons handed me a reddish bow and a quiver full of sharp pointed arrows, I hung it across my back. Tristan was handed a black bow and quiver full of white arrows.
When all the weapons had been handed out, we mounted our horses and followed the soldiers. The path to potential death.
