I'm not scared of the darkI do not fear this lack of light
I can stare into this endless night
It won't leave me sweating.
It won't
I do not fear the dark
No...
I fear the creatures that lurk in its dark shadow
The horrors that hide just out of sight
The screams muffled by dark things
The blood that goes unseen
I scare only by the monsters that hide from me
I fear the unknownness of it all
I fear how darkness blinds the senses
Morphs our eyes
Showing only what it wants to be seen
I fear how the night changes the wolf into a sheep
A monster, a lunatic, a psychopath, a rapist, a killer,
Turns them, morphs them, changes them
into a good honest and moral man.
I fear how it mutes my senses to the point that I can't tell if the hand clutching my own
is friends or foes...
So let me stress this,
I d o n o t f e a r t h e d a r k
I f e a r o n l y w h a t l u r k s w i t h i n
