So, there's this controlling power
It goes by the name "society".
It gives us lives
It gives us choices
But above all, it gives us voices.
The worst part about this "society"
Is that it controls the voices it gives.
One is loud
But not particularly liked.
One is liked
But is soon silenced in the worst possible way.
Some go on in their lives
Not even noticing "society" silencing them.
But others strive,
Others wish,
Others dream for their voices to be heard.
I suppose that's why I'm a writer.
I can write what'd I'd say
And people can choose to listen to me or not.
This poem has a message
But not the kind you think it is.
It's more of a promise
One that I'd like you to make with me.
I will never let society silence my voice.
Will you?
