"You're telling me you own the famous 5 star Italian restaurant franchise, Trattoria? Like the ones that are scattered throughout the world?", Jimin exclaimed.
"Technically. My mother owns all of them", I told them, not paying much attention to the shock on Jimin's face.
However, the CEO standing in front of me didn't seem like he cared too much. I noticed his foot tapping against the wood floor, showing his impatience. He was waiting for me to leave. Was he annoyed with me? Or did he just not like me? Well, if he chose to behave that way, then I wanted to leave too.
"Alright I'll get going then, text me if you need anything. Oh and by the way, don't tell anyone at work about this. I want to keep it personal", I told them, waving bye.
As I walked around them, I could feel Taehyung's eyes drilling holes on the back of my head, even after I passed him. Even though I didn't show it, something in my mind told me it wasn't a good sign.
********
"Who were those guys?", Namjoon asked, sitting across from me. The waiters placed two plates of steaming hot pasta in front of us.
"Just some of the higher ups from work", I said, stuffing the hot pasta down my throat. I slowly realized that I had been exposed. I didn't want my mom's achievements to interfere with my hard work at the company. I wanted to get a taste of success, success that I've earned myself. I didn't care even if I had to work my a*s off, but I wanted to do something with my life.
"Well that one guy seemed a little off to me", Namjoon scoffed, scarfing down his food.
His comment intrigued me and I leaned closer, sitting my head in between two perched elbows.
"The tall one", he said, eyeing me weirdly. There was something he wasn't telling me and I chose to ignore it for now.
"I know right. I gave him a file today and I'm not kidding, he flat out ignored me. Not even a 'thank you'", I rolled my eyes, leaning back into the leather booth.
"Yeah how rude", he tried mimicking me in high pitched "girl voice", snorting at the end of his inaccurate impression.
"Shut the f*ck up", I laughed. Namjoon was a really good friend of mine. We met when I was 5 and he was 8. We actually didn't start off on the right step. I remember he knocked down my block tower by accident and I started crying. He didn't want to get in trouble so he did everything to stop me from crying. From that day onwards, we started to form a special bond.
*******
"So what did your friend say about me?", I asked Jimin, drying my wet hair with a fluffy white towel. I couldn't believe he actually called me after we had seen each other so many times in one day.
"I asked him about you but he refused to say anything. Usually he just rejects girls, very explicitly too. But with you, he didn't say anything. Not a yes or no", he told me over the phone.
"What does that mean", I questioned, suddenly getting nervous. I put the towel down and listened to him intently.
"What I'm saying is, he's interested in you", he said.
"Oh no, I don't want to be involved with this at all", I didn't know how to feel about what Jimin told me. I could already feel the pace of my heart quicken and heat spread around my face. No matter how rude Taehyung was to me, I felt like I would do anything he asked me too. And this was my first time seeing him! It was only day one and I was f*cking whipped. Of course I wasn't going to tell Jimin about the feelings on my side, but in no way did I want my name next to Taehyung's.
"Well sweetie, you're already involved. When Taehyung wants something, he has to get it. Or you'll have to deal with the devil himself", he cackled through the phone, almost like he was threatening me.
"Goodnight Jimin", I immediately hung up on him, and tossed my phone on the bed. I didn't know if he was just messing with me, but I didn't want to f*cking deal with it.
Even though the lights were off and the curtains were closed, I wasn't able to get a wink of sleep that night.
******
A week had passed, and I didn't see the CEO at all. Jimin had repeatedly told me that he would eventually come around. However, no one told me that day would be today.
"Mina, they're asking you to bring these files to the 15th floor", Jungkook handed me a stack of the usual manila files. I raised my eyebrow at him and he responded with a shrug.
"Can't Hoseok go?", I whined. I didn't want to go up there to see Jimin and be pressured into invading the CEO's cabin.
"But they specifically asked for you to come", he told me, even pointing a finger at me.
"Fine. I'll be back in 5 minutes", I mummered, sulking my way to the elevator.
Stepping off the elevator, I regretted even coming here. The 15th floor, where the CEO resides, also known as hell. Again, the whispers and strange looks my way started again. Like a demon appeared in front of me, a irritatingly cocky looking Jimin came into view.
"Why are you making me do this", I groaned, shaking the pile of files in his face.
"Babe, I'm not the one making you do this", he whispered sensefully in my ear.
"Then who was it", I asked through gritted teeth, clearly knowing he was lying straight through his pearly white teeth.
"What can I say, I told you the magic would work itself", he chuckled, leaning in towards me.
"Get to the point".
"It was him. Taehyung wanted you to personally deliver the files to him".
