Friends

Me and Luke were sitting in a cafe , cold rainy night

Stuff haven't been easy

We both have problems we both fight , scream, throw stuff , and say stuff we don't mean

We make up all the time but something is off this time

We both sit quietly not saying a word

We've been like this for 20 minutes now all u can hear is other peoples conversations and the pouring rain

"Luke" my voice cracks

His eyes puffy and red , he turns to look at me

"I love you ... , so much" I'm on the edge if tears

You can tell he tries forcing a smile but nothing comes out

He takes my hand in his "I love you too , you know that"

"Then why can't we fix this? We've been through so much together we fight for our love and get through it why can't this be one of those times ?" I'm sobbing

He sheds a tears and sniffs

"Because , I'm tired if fighting I'm exhausted I don't want to fight for anything I want to enjoy it for once , we've been fighting for 4 years now we both deserve to be happy and not right every day"

"But you're the one who's my happiness Luke , you are" my heart aches

"I know and you're mine you always will be but I don't want to feel like I have to be something I'm not anymore "

"What are you saying?"

"Y/N your parents expect too much from me you listen to everyone but me all the time you believe everything people say when I've proved everything to you I moved here not knowing not even one person besides you and nothing changed , you keep flirting with every guy that crossed your path and when I got a job my attention on you hasn't been the same I'm not taking car of you like I should be "

"Luke that's not true and you know it "

"It is , I've been close to cheating on you how many times have you walked in preventing stuff what if you haven't walked in I'm tired of hurting you and I'm tired of you hurting me "

"But you didn't and that's what matters you didn't cheat "

"That's not the point " his voice cracks "I love you more than you can imagine but it's for the best"

"You really want to just end it?" I ask

He takes a deep breathe and nods

I sigh and wipe my years away

"Friends?" He asked

"I'm sorry... But I can't .. It'll hurt way too much , you can't ask me that"

"I understand " he stands up and kisses my cheek

He looks at me one last time and walks out
