"Ready to face the madness kid?"
I stared at Clint. "Did you really- I'm done."
He chuckled and leaned against the elevator wall. "Jarvis, main floor please."
Sighing I closed my eyes, the familiar sound of Nat reloading her guns filling the small metal box that I am in no way happy to be in.
"Is that necessary?"
"If somebody attacks us I'd prefer to have these loaded. I do not want a repeat of Budapest."
"We really do remember that differently."
"Jarvis, why aren't we moving?" Nat questioned, ignoring Clint's statement.
"There is currently a situation on the main floor. I was instructed to prevent all access until it is resolved."
"What kind of situation?"
Jarvis didn't respond.
Clint tapped his foot. How could I tell if my eyes are closed?
You..you do know I can hear right? There are these things called ears on the side of my head and they work.
"Jarvis, we have someone with us who hates elevators and this is probably not helping."
"Of course."
The elevator started up. Finally.
When the door finally opened...um, yeah...I don't think situation fully covers it.
Bruce was laying on the ground, a hammer placed on his chest. And...the room is pretty much destroyed.
"I just got this place fixed." Tony groaned and walked over to the intact bar to get himself a drink.
"You know you love the excuse to remodel Stark." Nat stepped out first followed by Clint then me.
"Hey Nat? What's up?" Bruce questioned straining his neck so he could look at us.
"A surprisingly intact ceiling."
"Why did you-"
"It is simple Clint. He was not properly informed of the arrangements." Thor spoke and summoned his hammer back to him.
"Who's the girl?" Tony questioned.
"I'm Percy. And I'm apparently living here now. Nick told me to tell you to not argue Tony, you don't really have a choice cause I live with Nat."
"You're what? Nineteen? You don't need a babysitter. Just like I don't need Fury springing all of this on me."
"And I appreciated the whole trying to trick me into thinking I was still in my time."
"We had to make sure you were stable." Was Nat's calculated reply.
"And sending me pretty much straight into fighting aliens definitely would have helped."
"Mphm!"
I looked over and saw Loki, not handcuffed but with a piece of metal acting as a gag.
"Take that off of him." I looked at Thor.
"Small Midgardian, I do not believe you know-"
"I read the files on all of you. I know all about you and your powers."
"Percy he's-"
I glared at her. "You should know why I don't approve of this. You know what happened to me before you guys."
Nat's face softened and she looked at Thor. "Do it."
Clint put a hand on his bow as Thor removed the gag.
"So you will listen to a mere child but refuse to talk to your own brother."
"You killed people Loki."
"And you haven't? How many people have you slain? How many of your messes have I covered up?"
"Honestly I don't see why Fury sent me. All you'll probably do is argue them to death."
"Is nobody else wondering what happened to her?"
I rolled my eyes at the billionaire and looked at Nat. "Your room or Clint's?"
"Either."
I nodded and looked at Clint, who sighed and wrapped an arm around me.
"Come on chickadee. Let's get you settled in."
He led me back to the elevator and after a simple command it started downward.
"Percy, I know why you don't like him being gagged. But there's a reason he's called Silvertongue."
"Is it the same reason they gagged me?" I questioned, hands clenching into fists.
Clint opened his mouth...then he shut it. "I uh guess so. Never really thought of it that way."
"Cause you don't think."
"I think more than you."
"Not saying much Clint." The doors opened and I followed him out and down the hallway until we reached his room.
"Here we are. Chez Barton. Still like the left side?"
"Don't know why you're asking, you always hog the entire bed anyway." I sat my bag on the floor and then plopped on the bed.
Clint sat next to me and ran his fingers through my hair. "He controlled me Percy...I killed so many of our own people...And he killed Coulson too."
I bit my lip. I know what Coulson was working on. But if it will work?
That's a whole different story. The only way is to erase the memory of it.
But memories never stay buried for long.
"He deserves a chance Clint. I never got one. And I'm willing to bet if Loki told his side of the story...no one would believe him."
"He is a god of mischief."
"You are aware of the fact my cousin is the god of lies right?"
Clint chuckled shaking his head. "Fine fine. I'll give him a chance. But if he tries to hurt you..." He drew a finger across his neck.
"Fine but you only get to beat up his corpse."
That earned a sigh. "Get some sleep kiddo. You need it. And you will definitely need it here."
I groaned and made grabby hands trying to get him to pull me up.
"Nope. You had a nightmare last night. And you know the rule."
"If you have a nightmare, then you have to take a nap the next day." I recited with him.
I'm the sole reason Fury made that rule. Cause they found out I don't exactly sleep after a nightmare. And this is actually a rule people like.
Er liked. Fury added a whole subsection detailing exactly what permits the nap the next day.
Basically, if you didn't wake up screaming and then lay in your bed for an hour before getting up to train or do paperwork or something similar, you can't take a nap.
"Yeah. Now get some sleep chickadee. I got to help Nat threaten everyone."
Here's chapter two!
