The Complicated Relationship

Chapter 2

I wake up in the morning still on my living room couch. The TV is still on and I'm in the same clothes from last night. I then look to where Freddie was sitting. He's still there.

"Freddie," I whisper. "Freddie." I say my voice getting a little louder. "Freddie!" I then throw one of the pillows from the couch at his face.

"What?!" he wakes up quite startled. "Mom, what do you want!?"

"First of all I'm not your mother I'm your girlfriend. Second, of all the you spent the night here!" The panic doesn't set in right away. 

"So?" he says. Getting up with a slight smirk on his face

"So, just so?"

"Yeah, what's the big deal?"

"We have to go to school!" His eyes then get wide and his mouth drops open. 

"Crap! What are we going to do?"

"I don't know! If we show up in the same car people will know we're dating!" The panic then leaves his face.

"Maybe not."

"What do you mean?"

"Just follow my lead."

"So explain to me how this is going to work again?" I ask as we sit in the school parking lot. 

"You are going to walk in before me, and then once you're inside, you'll text me ,and then I will start walking from the parking lot. Got it?" I nod. I then lean in and give him a kiss. 

"Last kiss of the morning." I say disappointment in my voice. I then get out of the car.

"Love you!" he calls from the car. I stop walking and then turn around. 

"Love you too!" I then continue to walk to the front of the building. Once I get there I see Carly standing out front.

"There are you! I've been trying to reach you all night!" she then grabs my arm and pulls me into the school. "Where were you?" she asks.

"Sorry, me and my mom went out and my phone died."

"Oh ok. Well, you'll never guess what happened last night. Griffin comes up to our apartment and asks to come in. He then tried to convince me to get back together with him. Can you believe him?"

"No I really can't." I then pull my backpack around and brag my phone. 

'You can come in now.' I text Freddie.

"I thought you said your phone was dead" Carly says, her eyebrows raised in suspicion.

"It was but I charged it when I got home." I say.

"Ohh, well anyway as I was saying can you believe him?"

"No, I can't believe him." my voice monotone.

"Are you even listening to me?"

"Sure he is,Carly," I say. I then realize that the last thing she said had nothing to do with Griffin. "Hey! Is that a new outfit?" I then begin to look down at the floor and run to my locker.

"I'm not done talking to you!" I hear Carly's voice behind me.

"Uh-oh what did Sam do this time?" I hear Freddie say as he approaches us.

"She wasn't listening to me when I was ranting."

"Sam," Freddie whines. "You know you don't ignore Carly when she's ranting." I then turn towards Freddie and look him in the eye. I mouth the words 'Im sorry' and then I take my hand and smack him across the face. 

"Watch it Fredbag." I say hoping I sound convincing.

"I told you not to call me Fredbag."

"Ok, Frederly."

"That's enough Sam-" We then go into one of our famous debates. So many times I just wanted to kiss, but I forced myself not to. I couldn't risk Carly finding out.

"Alright, you two that's enough," Carly says break it up. "We need to get to class." She then begins to walk in front of us to class.

"Nice performance." I tell Freddie.

"Thanks, you too." 

"Sorry for the slap," I then get up on my tip toes and rub the check I hit. "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine. I'm use to your slaps by now." He flashes me a smile and I smile back. I then look around to see if anyone is looking. Especially Carly. When I see that no one is paying attention. We both then begin to lean in.

"Guys!" We then break apart as of nothing was about to happen. "Are you guys coming?" Carly asks. We both nod our heads not saying a word. "Well, then come on!" she then continues to walk to class. I sigh. Freddie then grabs my hand. 

"She won't see us." he says, and then gently kisses me on the forehead. "Now come on lets go to class."
