Later that night, I sit in my room. I can't help but wonder why Freddie didn't say anything.

He knew I was there. He looked right at me!

I sigh and grab my phone. There are a few text on it. Two from Carly. The rest from Freddie. I don't bother reading the messages and throw my phone across the room. It lands on the floor. I crawl over to my desk and grab my laptop. Not sure of what to do, I begin to watch this nerdy show Freddie showed me called Doctor Who. It makes me smile and I think of him. But the smile soon begins to fade.

Why does this relationship have to be so complicated? I love Freddie. He loves me. Why can't we just tell everyone?

The ring for a video chat begins, pulling me out of my daze. I pause the episode and look to see who is calling.

It's Freddie.

I don't bother to answer and let it ring. I continue watching the episode. Once the ringing is done, he calls again. I don't answer. He calls again. I sigh, pause the episode and answer.

"What do you want?" I say, not trying to hide the anger in my voice.

"I want to talk to you." He says.

"About what?"

"Can't we just talk aimlessly?"

"We can, but you obviously don't want to."

"How do you know what I want?"

I roll my eyes.

"Freddie we've dated twice and have been friends for awhile. So, when you send me several text and call me about three times in a roll, there's something you want to talk about."

Freddie gives me one of his smirks.

"You know me too well."

"I should. I'm your girlfriend."

"Well, there is something I want to talk about."

"Spit it out."

"What was that at Carly's? You just left."

I laugh.

"You are joking right?"

"No, I'm not."

"Are you serious?! Did you not see the way she was with you?! Batting her stupid eyelashes and holding your stupid arm!"

"Sam-"

"No! No! Don't say anything! Because you! What you did was the worst! You let her do that! You didn't say anything!"

"I didn't want her to find out, Sam."

"You could've said something without her finding out! How about a simple I DONT LIKE YOU!"

"Sam, calm down. Please, just calm down."

"I can't calm down! I can't!"

"Sam, yes you can."

"But I can't! Everything is just so damn complicated! Why can't people just know?! I'm so tired of hiding! I'm tired of sneaking around! I just want to be with you! I want to be seen with you!"

"But Carly broke us up last time. I just don't want it to happen again. I can't lose you again."

I look down at my carpet.

"I can't lose you either," I say, surprised at how small my voice is. "But Carly wouldn't break us up this time. She would want us to be happy. And when she sees us happy, she'll be happy." I look up at Freddie, his face looking a bit sad. We sit in silence for awhile.

"Just a little longer ok? Then we can tell."

Before I can protest, he ends the call.
