"Ready?" Freddie asked me as I closed the door to my house.
"Ready." I answered back. I get in his car and we start to drive.
"Where exactly are we going?" I ask.
"I don't know. Anywhere, you want."
"Lets just run away," I say. "Start a new life. A life where we can be together without hiding." I look over at Freddie. A wide smile on his face.
"Whatever you say Sam." He says picking up the speed.

We drove until we got to Los Angles. It took hours, but it was worth it. Freddie drives around the city until he finds a nice place to park. We get out the car. The Hollywood sign right in front of us. Freddie comes over to my side and wraps his arms around my waist.
"Isn't it beautiful?" He asks.
"It sure is."
"Just like you."
"Stop it."
"I'm being serious, Sam." I turn around to face him.
"Why weren't things this easy the last time we dated?"
"I think we put to much pressure on ourselves. We felt the need to make sure everything was perfect."
"So, what makes things so different now?"
"Well, we've changed. Our feelings for each other have grown."
I wrap my arms around his waist.
"Lets stay here. Lets never go back."
"We have to go back. We have our family's. What about our friends?"
"Your moms crazy. My mom doesn't really love me. And who cares about our friends? We can just make new ones here. We already know some people! Come on! Lets just stay."
He stifles a laugh.
"How about this. We can move here together once we are done with high school. Go to colleges by each other. Share an apartment. How does that sound?"
"I guess it's fine," I mumble. "I would rather live here now."
"I know Sam. I know. But we can't stay here now. Now, come on. Lets go."

It took us another several hours to get back. Freddie and I had several angry text. All of mine were from Carly. His were a combination, some from his mom. Some from Carly.
"You want to go to your house?" Freddie asked as we drove into Seattle. "We can hang out there."
"Why? We always hang out at Carly's."
"Yeah, but I don't want her to ask us question."
"Freddie, seriously. I think it's time we told."
Freddie didn't say a word. He only gripped the steering wheel tighter.
"Fine. We'll wait. But why don't you just drop me off at home. Explain things to your mom, and I'll meet you at Carly's. Ok?"
"Ok."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Carly!" I say running into her apartment. "I need to talk to you."
"What is it?" She asks, coming out from the kitchen and sitting on the couch. "And where have you been? I've been worried."
" Just listen, I'll get there, but you need to stop your flirting or whatever you do with Freddie."
"Why?"
"He doesn't like it."
"And how exactly do you know that?" I can sense the anger in her voice. I close my eyes. You can do this Sam, I think to myself.
"Because... Because we have been dating."
"What?!" Carly screams, shooting up from the couch. "That can't be true! You guys would've told me the minute you got back together."
"It is true Carls. We just didn't want to tell you. We didn't want to tell anybody. We wanted it to be a secret for a little while."
"But... But why wouldn't you tell me?! I'm your best friend!"
"We were afraid that you would break us up... Like last time."
"Like last time?! What do you mean like-"
"Carls," I cut her off. "I'm really sorry. I've been wanting to tell you for awhile now, but Freddie kept on wanting to wait. But all the times that we've left your apartment early or all the times we started random fights, all the excuses, it was just so you wouldn't catch on. Freddie didn't really meet his dad and Melanie is not coming to town anytime soon."
I look up at Carly's face. Her mouth hanging open, like she wants to speak but can't find the words to do so. There's a knock at the door, awaking her from her trance. She goes and answers it. Freddie is standing in the doorway.
"So ladies," he says walking into the apartment, "what are we going to do to-" he stops mid-sentence, like he feels the tension in the room.
"Carly, Sam, what's going on?"
"Is it true?" Carly asks. "Is what Sam told me true?"
"What did Sam tell you?"
"That you two are... dating." Freddie stares at Carly. A shocked look on his face. The shock soon turns into anger. He walks away from Carly and comes towards me.
"You told her?" He says. "Even though I said we should wait, you told her."
"It wasn't right Freddie," I tell him.
"She's our best friend. She deserves to know."
"But you went against what I said! I said to wait longer Sam! And you went and told anyway! You didn't even tell me you were going to tell! You just did it because you wanted to!"
"So, it's true," Carly speaks up. "You are dating."
"No." Freddie says his eyes still on me.
"No?" I repeat, my voice small.
"So, Sam was lying?"
"No, she wasn't lying. We were dating, but not anymore."
"Freddie, don't do this," I say shaking my head. "It's not a big deal."
"It may not be to you Sam. But it is to me. You went against my wishes. And I can't date someone who puts them self above me."
"No." I say. "No,that's not true and you know it. You can't date me because Carly knows," I can feel the tears in my eyes, but I don't care. "You still love her. I'm just the second choice aren't I? If the girl you love doesn't love you, why not just go to the girl who loves you," The tears are spilling down my cheeks now, but I don't care. "Did you ever love me at all Freddie? Was there ever any part of you that loved me? Or did I just waste my time? Did I waste my time on this second relationship? Did I waste my time missing you all that time we were broken up? Remember when I told you cried every night after our break up. That was true. You brought out a different side of me. A side I could never show to anyone else, not even Carly. I loved you. I LOVE you. But you obviously don't feel the same way." The tears are pouring down rapidly, but once again I don't care. Freddie stares at me, his eyes cold. He walks away from me towards the door of the apartment, and leaves.
I break down.
