Jack's POV
"Say that again?!" Anne said, shocked.
"I want to adopt Belle!" I said.
She took a few seconds silence.
"Are you sure about this?!" she asked. "Looking after a child requires a huge responsibility!"
"I feel the need to protect her!" I explained. "I want to be the father figure she never had!"
Anne nodded.
"Well, seeing as you have a stable home, I have the adoption forms in my bag, and i'm happy to give you them to you to sign!" she said, smiling.
"That's great!" I said, smiling.
"Are you sure you want to do this?!" she asked.
"Positive!" I said, smiling.
Anne pulled the forms out her suitcase and I read through them and signed them. It made me so happy to be giving Belle a fresh start.
"So, Belle will be taking your surname" Anne said.
"Ok!" I said, smiling.
"So, instead of her name being Belle Jensen, her name will be Belle Maynard!" she said, smiling.
"My full name is Isabelle Rose Jensen"
I turned around to see Belle standing a few feet from the sofa.
"Sorry" she said, timidly. "There was a loud noise outside and I got nervous. I just wanted to be around familiar people."
"That's ok!" I said, smiling.
I patted the space next to me, where seconds later she sat.
"So you're called Isabelle but prefer Belle" Anne clarified.
Belle gave a shy nod.
"And your middle name is Rose?!" I clarified.
Again, she gave a shy nod.
"That's a lovely middle name!" Anne said, smiling. I could see she was trying to make Belle more comfortable.
I turned Belle so she was facing me.
"Belle" I said. "I'm going to adopt you!"
I didn't know what Belle's reaction was going to be like. Was she going to be happy? Sad? Angry? Scared?
Suddenly, she jumped into my arms, giving me a hug. I hugged her back.
"T-Thank you!" she sobbed.
"Hey, hey, it's ok!" I said, kissing her head.
"So, we'll be coming over for a few routine visit, just to make sure she's safe" Anne explained. "We'll also hunt down Belle's birth experience that we'll then give you a copy of."
I nodded.
"Well, that's all!" she said. "I'll see you in about a month!"
We said goodbye to Anne and she left.
"So Belle" I said, smiling. "You're my mini maynard!"
