Chapter 5

(Y/N)'s POV

    ...
    Girlfriend...?
    John seemed to be taken aback by that comment. He turned to me, frowned, and began to speak.
    "Maria is doing well," he began. "I believe she is coming back from Hawaii in two days."
How could he lead me on like that? Why didn't he tell me? Why didn't anyone else tell me instead of giggling and teasing me??
    "That's good to hear! Are you two still a happy couple?" Jefferson put emphasis on the word couple. He may have wanted to make sure that John remembers that he is in a relationship. He may need the reminder because it looked like he forgot about this Maria chick when he was holding my hand...
    "I'm going to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back." I got up and sped walked to the bathroom. I could hear footsteps following me. When I made it to the restroom, I found out that Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy were the ones following me.
    "(Y/N), I'm so sorry that we didn't tell you! We just thought the-" I cut Angelica off.
    "I know that we don't know each other well, but that's just the kind of thing you tell another girl! You don't let her be swept right off her feet by a guy in a relationship! I just got to this school and I don't want to start any unwanted problems with people I didn't even know about!" I took a deep breath. "I just think it would've been kind and helpful of you to let me know that the guy I'm obviously crushing on has a significant other, that's all." Peggy looks sadly at me.
    "(Y/N), I didn't mean to hurt you like this. I was going to tell you today, but it seems that Jefferson beat me to it." Peggy seemed to grow angrier at the mention of his name.
    "That's such a Jefferson thing he did. He's just jealous of John for dating his ex," Eliza said. I laughed, realizing that guys can steal other people's women.
    "That's really true! He's been acting really weird ever since John and Maria started dating. He probably is jealous," Angelica said. Eliza seemed to be deep in thought until she spoke.
    "Hey, what do you girls think about going out? Like, right now?" I thought about the idea... and I liked it!
    "That sounds like a great idea!" Angelica and Peggy exclaimed in perfect unison.
    "What do you say, (Y/N)? Can you forgive us and come hang out?" Peggy asked with puppy dog eyes. Angelica and Eliza joined in. All three of their faces seemed apologetic. Their hands were also clasped together in a pleading way.
    "Hmm... Why not? As long as something like that never happens again!" I stated as they vigorously nodded. I smiled as we walked out of the bathroom together.
    "Should we leave them with the check?" I asked. We all looked at each other. We each put in $10. Eliza ran over to the table, explained what we were doing, handed them the money, said a special goodbye to my brother, and ran back over. We all started to tease her.
    "Just so you know, my brother does not have any girlfriends so you're good," I said with a hint of sass. Eliza thanked me, we all laughed and headed out. Peggy insisted on calling a private driver, but Angelica wanted to drive her car. Eventually, Peggy gave in and we all climbed into Angelica's car. I had no clue where we were going, so I just sat back and listened to the three sisters sing in the car. It was pretty amusing at first, but then it became a show when they said they were going to perform a song they wrote themselves.

    Work! Work!

    "Angelica!"

    Work! Work!

    "Eliza!"

    "And Peggy!"

    "THE SCHUYLER SISTERS!"

    We finally reached our destination. It looked like a boardwalk. That's pretty cool, I thought. I had never been on a boardwalk before. I got out of the car and followed the sisters. We walked down the boardwalk, stepping into stores every now and then. The outfits were extremely overpriced, but the three sisters still left each store with at least 2 bags each. I laughed at how excited they got when they found their size. Eliza looked at me.
    "(Y/N), why don't you get something?" She asked. I shrugged.
    "I can't afford anything here." Angelica laughed at my statement.
    "Then we'll buy you something silly!" I shook my head.
    "No, I can't let you guys do that," I said. Peggy smiled.
    "It's no big deal (Y/N)! We're your friends now and we want to help you out!" Peggy took my hand and led me out of the store we were in. She looked around. Peggy then dragged me over to a different store. Angelica and Eliza followed and immediately began looking for clothes. I giggled at how focused they were.
    "I FOUND SOMETHING!!!" Eliza exclaimed as she pulled a dress off the rack. The other two squealed in delight and shoved me and the dress into the dressing room. I looked at the dress. It was a knee-length, halter top dress. It was red with white polka dots. It also had a white belt with a silver buckle. I put the dress on. It was a tight fit dress as well. I tied the top around my neck, tightened the belt, and looked at myself in the mirror. I look amazing... I step out of the dressing room to show off the dress to my friends. Their jaws dropped when they saw me. They squealed once more and pulled me into a group hug. Peggy pulled me over to the cash register. They paid for my dress and I decided to keep it on. Obviously, I took the tag off first. My phone beeped. It was the group chat.

MyShot: Hey Eliza, where are you guys?

Helpless: We're down the shore! We're going to go to the amusement park

SewinAndSpyin: Sounds like fun! Mind if we join?

Work!: I don't know how (Y/N) will feel about that... We did all let John lead her on...

Freckles: Is she really, really mad at me...?

Work!: I don't think she's that angry

    As soon as John joined the conversation, I angrily put my phone away.

Work!: Yeah, she's really angry

Freckles: I screwed up bad, didn't I...?

MyShot: You did kinda destroy my beloved sister's heart so yeah, you screwed up bad 😡

LargeBaguette: Let's all calm down, Angelica, do you mind sending us the address?

Work!: Sure I'll send it to you

LargeBaguette: Thank you, we're going to meet you guys at the park and, hopefully, try to make things right with everyone

AndPeggy: Sounds good to me and Eliza

SewinAndSpyin: All the guys are up for that

LargeBaguette: Then it's settled! Angelica, we'll meet up with you guys soon

Work!: Awesome

    I sat with my arms crossed as I watched the three sisters text the guys. I wonder what they're talking about... I take out my phone and start to read through the texts.
