Reunited [ dramione ]

Hermione stood sipping her champagne whilst a crowd of people around her engaged in boring conversation.

Their chatter was interrupted when a black haired woman who looked a lot like Astoria but with a few more wrinkles can rushing through.

"Have any of you taken an extra guest?" She asked to the group and sighed when everyone shook their heads.

"Is everything okay?" A blonde in a dress shaped like a meringue asked.

"No, there seems to be an extra guest because there is one more person here than was invited and I cannot work out who it is." She said in a very panicked voice and then ran off to ask if anyone else knew who this unauthorised guest was.

Hermione instantly went into panic mode, she put down her glass of champagne and excused herself.

She raced towards where she could see Theodore was standing but before she could get halfway across the room she crashed into someone.

"I am so sorry!" She apologised profusely as she tried to get herself to her feet.

"Really it's my fault." The person replied offering out a hand to help her up.

Hermione looked up to see who her victim was although she already knew by the voice.

She stood up, ignoring Draco's outstretched hand.
"Well if I'd have known it was you I would have been more careful, we don't want you hurt on the day you profess your love to the love of your life." Hermione said coldly.

Draco tried to hide the shock at her tone but he wasn't sure he'd managed to.

"Hermione.." He said, taking in her beauty.

"Are you okay?" She asked the way a banker might inform you of a new policy.

"Yes but-" He was cut off by Hermione.

"Brilliant. Have a nice evening" She smiled to him, but the smile was slowly turning upside down and she could feel the tears forming. Despite everything she wanted to do she couldn't turn away. Her brimming eyes stayed on Draco's, she willed herself to move, to turn around and not look back but she couldn't do it.

"Hermione." Draco said again, his voice softer than his usual cold demeanour.

"What?" She snapped, her voice going scarily high at the end.

"Um.." he tried to think of something to say, anything. "I finished the book." Was all he could come up with.

"And?" She asked, in as much of a boredtone as she could create.

"It was good, better than the film." He nodded

"You should read the Hobbit, it's a similar story and based in the same place." She replied.

Draco nodded, despite the tumble her hair still looked flawless as did her entire being.

Hermione could feel Draco watching her, she tilted her head so that she was looking at the floor. This was getting far too much for her and the tears were threatening to fall.

"I'll see you later." She said quickly and then walked away quickly.

Draco watched the beautiful girl walk away and laughed a little, she reminded him so much of the Cinderella book she had read him and yet this tale wouldn't have nearly as happy an ending as the fairytale.

Hermione finally reached Theodore, she was totally breathless when she did.
"Theodore I need your help" She said panicked, she wished she would've planned for what to do in a situation like this.

"What's up?" He asked, seeing the panic in her eyes.

"I need you to find the house elf with a pink bow and apparate her to your house. I also need you to not ask any questions." She said, this was the only thing she could think of.

"Hermione? I can't steal a house elf in the middle of a party." Theodore said, his confusion only growing.

"Right. I'll create a distraction." She said and then ran off, leaving Theodore standing in total confusion.

Hermione's mind raced, she didn't know how to distract an engagement party of 500 people but she knew she had to.

"Hermione hey!" A voice came from behind her.

She spun around to see Alex and smiled at him despite the state of panic she was in.

"Hey Alex, how come you're here?" She asked, her mind still racing.

"I've known Astoria since she was a little girl." He said with a warm smile, "Plus I like the speeches."

Hermione's eyes went wide, she knew exactly how to distract everyone now.

"Thank you so much Alex! I'll see you later." She gave him a big hug and then ran to the front of the room and took a deep breath.
