Chapter 16 (Friendship)

"Uh hi Nico." I said awkwardly.

"Elise, you look very beautiful this evening" Nico said causally.

"Thank you" I said plainly.

"Listen Elise, I'm sorry I hurt you, there was just so much evidence pointing against you that I believed the lies and I'm sorry" Nico said.

"I know Nico, I just expected my boyfriend to trust me more than that" I said trying to stay strong.

"I know I was an idiot to believe them, When I said all those horrible things I didn't mean them I was just mad and hurt. I wanted you to feel the pain I felt" Nico said stepping closer to me.

"Well Nico, I don't forgive you for what you said but I guess we could be friends" I said feeling tears gather in my eyes.

"I'll take anything as long as it means you'll talk to me" Nico said stepping even closer.

His face was a little above mine and I knew he must have grown.

"Well goodnight friend". It almost killed me to say those words.

"Goodnight Elise" Nico said giving me a kiss on the top of my head.

And with that he was off into the shadows.

When I got back inside my cabin I pulled out my phone.

'Can we please talk, I need you'

I sent the text an a second later got a reply.

'Of course do you want to meet by the beach or the usual?'

I thought about it.

'The usual'

'See you there in 5'

The text read back.

Relieved I left the cabin without changing and headed down to the woods.

As I headed into the woods I came to the clearing where Nico and I first met.

So many good memories there.

I sighed and kept walking until I came across bunker 9.

I walked up to it and knocked on the door.

"Come in" Leo shouted.

I opened the door an walked in.

"Hey Elise" Leo said when I closed the door behind me.

"Hey Leo" I said taking a seat on one of the couches.

"So what's wrong?" He asked sitting down next to me.

"Nico came back and it's really hard to stay mad at him but I have to, the things he said were so vile and insulting." I rambled on.

I finally sighed.

"I want to forgive him and I want everything to I back to the way they were but..." I said trailing off.

"But..... What?" Leo asked shifting his body closer to me.

"Everytime I look in his beautiful eyes I see the look of disgust on his face when he thought I had slept with you and Henry" I cried.

Leo rubbed my back soothingly.

"Hey shh it's okay everything is okay just give it time to heal" Leo whispered sweetly in my ear.

His voice sent shivers down my spine.

"Te amo Elise" He whispered.

After I cried for a little while I sat up and leaned on Leo's chest.

"Leo?" I asked.

"Mmh?" he said.

"What does Te amo mean?" I asked him.

"Um" he said.

I looked at him with suspicion.

"It's not the exact translation but it means it's alright" he said quickly.

"Hmm? Te amo" I said testing the word out.

I say Leo crack his goofy grin and I laughed.

"Cásate conmigo?" Leo asked me.

"Um what does that mean?" I asked.

"Are you tired" Leo said a little more calm than last time.

"Oh then yes I am exhausted." I said snuggling into his chest.

"Then I better get you to your cabin" Leo said starting to move.

"No! please your so warm I just want to sleep here tonight" I said feeling drowsy.

Leo sighed.

"Fine but only for tonight" he said.

I smiled and fell asleep in his warm embrace.

It felt nice and comforting.
