The day was over far to quickly and before I knew it I was slowly making my way to the library with that awful feeling in my stomach like a dozen butterflies were doing heavy metal while trying to jump up my throat.

What?

I made sure to take my time walking there after practice, texting Harmony on my phone trying to make plans to go to her house after I was finished. Even though I was sure I'd be to mentally exhausted to do anything but veg on the couch for the rest of the night.

Henry was sat at the same table as before. But this time he wasn't wearing his glasses, and instead of his hair up, he had it down in waves that reached his shoulders. Pre usual he wasn't looking at me when I walked to the table, but in a book with his one leg over the other leaning back in the chair as if it was the comfiest thing to be sitting in.

That didn't make my stomach feel any better.

He looked like he came out of a movie with his khaki pants lose on him, but not baggy. No, they fit him perfectly along with the two-toned shirt, burgundy center, and gray sleeves. He could have easily passed for a model if he had wanted to. And I'm sure if his grades failed him he could become one easily.

Henry could easily be whatever he wanted to be. He had money thanks to his dad's career as a TV director. Even after his parent's messy divorce, his dad gave him so much money every week, along with child support every month.

Only when I got to the table did his eyes finally leave the pages and he greeted me with his fake smile, a slight cringe when his eyes reached my nose and eye. Reaching over he grabbed his glasses that I hadn't noticed sitting behind a pile of books. "God, you look horrible. But you're finally here. Practice run late?"

"Yeah." No. "Sorry about that."

"It's fine. Let's get started. Did you finish the worksheet?"

Well, this was embarrassing. "Actually.."I pulled the mostly empty worksheet from my backpack and put it on the table. The poor sheet looked like it had gone through a war. Every corner bend, two ripped completely off, doodles around the words making a border around the questions. The three questions that were answered were written in my sloppy penmanship.

The whole thing was just a mess and I felt a pit on shame wash over me as Henry grabbed the sheet and looked it over.

"Well, the ones you did answer are right. So that's a bonus. What happened? Did you forget about it or not understand it?"

I rubbed the back of my neck not looking at Henry. "I just. I don't know, I tried.."

"You know what." Henry interrupted, digging into his pocket before pulling out a small cube. "Here."

I held my hand out slowly, as Henry dropped the little black cube in my hand. It had something on each side, buttons, switches, a ball to roll and a mini joystick. "It's a fidget cube," Henry said obviously reading the confusion on my face. "I noticed you don't really keep still, you're always moving some part of your body. And it'll hopefully help you concentrate more. It won't answer the questions for you. But at least it's something to keep you from biting on your pen and taking your focus from what you're doing to what you're not doing."

"Do you think it'll actually work?"

Henry shrugged. "Who knows. But it's worth a try at least. And if it doesn't then we'll try something else."

"Um, well thanks I guess. How much do I owe you for it?"

"Owe me?" Henry looked at me like I had just thrown a carton of milk at his face. "It was like five bucks at Dollarama. You don't owe me anything. Plus you know my parents. Why would I make you pay me back? Money is not an issue for me."

Henry and I studied for an hour that night. Using the cube and the flash cards again. I had to say everything he said made sense to me in those moments. But even with the cube, I kept getting distracted, noticing myself looking at his face but not hearing the words he'd said. Every now and then he'd look up at me and catch me while I was zoned out on his face and his cheeks would tint, sometimes he would brush his hair behind his ears. But for the most part, he tried to act like he didn't notice me staring, which I was thankful for because it was embarrassing.

I blamed it on the fact that I was tired, I had woke up an hour before my alarm today then had practice plus an hour of studying made my brain and body feel like jello

But it was strange. Even though I felt tired, by the time we had finished our study group I felt wide awake. Like I had just run a mile and could run a mile more. So instead of going home, I made my way to the 24-hour gym down the road from the school, working off all the energy I suddenly had before going home and crashing on the couch.

Totally forgetting that I had made any plans with Harmony.
