Chapter 5

KAYA

Tai Lee.

Of course.

But if Tai Lee was around so was Azula and Mai. Frantically moving my eyes around I started silently praying for help.

Aang, Katara, Sokka, Appa, even Momo would do.

But I closed my eyes as I was lifted onto an animal.

I woke up and wasn't numb anymore. Still tied up, but not numb. And I was prisoner in a prisoner chamber on a fire nation ship.

Great.

As if on cue, Zuko, Azula, Tai Lee, and Mai came into the chamber. Tai Lee, Mai, and Azula were dismissed by Zuko. Leaving me alone with him.

"What do you want?" I asked impatience lacing my voice.

"To turn you into the fire lord. Gee, for an Avatar you aren't very smart." Zuko smirked.

I looked down at my untied feet. Smiling I kicked air into Zuko's face sending him flying backward. I looked around for a knife and cut the ropes off of me.

Freedom here I come.

If there is one thing I learned that is resourceful in the art of fire bending, it's using fire from your feet act like a jet pack.

Going on deck and knocking every guard I see unconscious, I flew up.

I found a tree to hide into and hid there. Zuko came on deck looking around and fell to his knees.

"She's too powerful. Aang we can take care of but her..." Zuko started.

"What Zuko? Spit it out already!" Azula's voice boomed.

"She needs to die." Zuko finished heavily breathing.

That's all I needed to hear.

I went around and spotted Aang near the lake. His shoulders were shaking violently and Katara was next to him.

Aang was sobbing.

Over me.

When he noticed me in the air he gasped and wiped his face. Running towards me, he hugged me and I hugged him back crying myself.

Out of happiness obviously.

"Zuko took you... Azula and Tai Lee... We searched... Oh Kaya, we were worried sick. What in the world happened to you?" Aang asked.

"Long story. But, are you okay?" I asked him.

"Now yes. But an hour ago the pain in my head was stronger than ever. You were in trouble but Azula and Mai held me back from saving you." Aang answered.

"Zuko wants to kill me." I mumbled ever so slightly.

"What did you say?"

"I said, ZUKO WANTS TO GET RID OF ME ONCE AND FOR ALL!" I yelled out of rage and confusion. I collapsed and tears silently ran down my cheek.

"We won't let that happen." Aang said. But I couldn't believe what my friend had said.

Knowing the fire nation, I was going to get killed.

"No Aang you don't understand." I started, "I brought this on myself."

"What? How?" Aang asked me.

"Well, it all started when I was a little girl at the Northern Air Temple. Fire benders took my family, killing them. But me, no I was prisoner. Locked up in a cage. I spent three long years there and by that time I was nine years old. Zuko took me out to train me for a plan he wouldn't reveal to anyone. I obeyed being the scaredey cat I was. I was trained fire bending but soon forgot it because I seemed to get away."

I looked at Aang to see if he was still listening. When I saw he was, I continued.

"I took Kanna and put on my headband covering my arrow. I learned to live in the streets. Learned water bending by watching the masters. Learned fire bending from Zuko. It's all started to come back by the way. And I learned Earth bending from the badger moles."

Shock written all over his face, Aang almost silently said, "This means that you can teach me what you know. We don't have to go anywhere."

"But what about Zuko? And all the other fire benders who want to capture us? Like Admiral Zhao? We can't stay in one place for a long time." I replied.

"You're right. We need to find a hiding place to hide in and learn all of the elements." Aang said mischievously.

"What do you have in mind?"

"The South Pole. I know it's pain to get here and then fly all the way back but it's our only chance."

I sat down, "Aang why were you crying?"

"Because I thought I lost you forever. See Kaya, I don't know if you realize this but I have this Avatar bond to you that I can't explain."

I looked at Aang confused then blushed.

"Wait! Wait! I don't have that type of bond. Geez Kaya And it was also from the pain in my head which hurt a lot." Aang blushed.

"Okay, let's get onto Appa and fly to the South Pole!"
