They finally won. The war was over. They could return to their homes. They could finally pursue their dreams.

The lions landed on the ground, dust flying around them. The paladins all jumped onto the Earth's soil, smiles plastered across their faces. They were finally finished with fighting this intergalactic war.

"We've won! I can't believe it, we've won!" Hunk shouted.

Cheers erupted from the group. Coran did a little dance, while Keith and Shiro hugged. Pidge ran up to Hunk, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"Hunk! You were amazing! How you dodged that one beacon and fired at the ship!" She shouted over the cheers.

"No, you were amazing! How you were able to use cloaking to get us near enough to launch a surprise attack!" Hunk replied.

"Ah! I can't believe this is happening! Oh!" Pidge's eyes lit up as she remembered something she had been meaning to do. "I gotta tell La-"

However, the moment Pidge gazed behind Hunk, ready to march over to where the blue paladin stood, she froze. Her breath hitched and she felt as if her heart dropped to her feet. Lance...and Allura..they were kissing. Lance's hand was gently pressed against her back, his other delicately holding her face. Both of their cheeks were tinted pink. Pidge's heart shattered and she gasped, taking a step back. Shiro wolf-whistled and Keith smirked, which only seemed to make it worse.

She had always been jealous of Lance's love for Allura, and the thought of them ending up together had crossed her mind once or twice, but seeing it in front of her...

Stupid! Stupidstupidstupid! Why did I ever think I'd have a chance? Lance doesn't care for girls like me. I even treat him like crap sometimes. Why did I think it was possible? And I thought I could tell him how I felt. Pidge's thoughts overwhelmed her and she trembled.

Her knees became weak as she watched Lance and Allura break apart and smile softly at each other. Pidge had never felt more envious and heartbroken in her entire life than she did at that moment.

"Pidge!"

She heard the familiar voice and turned her attention to the yellow paladin. His hands were grasping her shoulders and he looked concerned.

"Pidge, are you all right?"

"Y-yeah..why wouldn't I be?" Her voice was shaky.

"Pidge," Hunk's voice was gentle, yet worried. "You're crying."

Pidge lifted her hand to her cheek. Wet.

The realization sank in and her shoulders shook. She let out a light sob before turning and running to her lions hangar, blocking out Hunk's shouts for her to come back.

The moment she was in her lion, she fell to the ground. She pulled her legs up to her chest, as she often did when she felt distressed, and sobbed. The ecstatic mood she was in not too long ago had completely diminished. She never felt more alone.
