The girl limped down the street, soaking wet from the pounding rain. She was little, only five, and was confused.
Another clap of thunder sent a prickling down the girls spine. She called out for her parents, but no one was around.
The buildings were rubble, and little did the girl know that she was calling out to the corpses of her former neighbors.
A team of Tony Stark's robots scanned the street, searching for survivors of the fight. The mission hadn't gone as planned for some of the Avengers, which resulted in the mess surrounding the girl.
When she spotted a robot she stumbled back, with all her effort she dashed behind a large piece of concrete. The bot scanned the piece and found her heat signature.
It flew behind the concrete and lifted the girl up, flying her back to Avenger's tower. The girl protested, kicking and screaming. The robot didn't show any signs of letting go, but the girl kept fighting anyways staying persistent.
When the robot and the girl arrived at Avengers tower, they were greeted with paramedics who rushed the girl to the infirmary. They fixed her up, and the girl had fallen into a state of unconsciousness. She was delivered to a interrogation room and sat down in a chair.
The girl woke up to a woman with red hair sitting at the other end of the metal table. She had a smile but it seemed forced.
"You go in, she won't find you as scary as the rest of us," they had told Natasha Romanoff.
So there she sat, interrogating a small girl. Who might have some information, and based on the lab results, powers too.
The girl regarded Black Widow with wide, almost glowing, purple eyes
"Hello, my name is Natasha, and I am going to ask you some questions," she said softly, and with what she hoped was a comforting smile.
The girl nodded and her hands were fidgeting. Her bright violet eyes were startling and Natasha couldn't help but notice her veins were bulging and a dull purple all over her frail limbs.
"What's your name?" The super Assassin asked, with a light tone of voice.
"I-I don't know," The girl frowned, her arms were shaking now, and her gaze had shifted to the table in front of her fear evident in her facial expression.
"That's okay, it's going to be okay," Natasha said, noticing the panic rise in the girls eyes.
Natasha looked behind the girls shoulder at Tony standing behind the glass and people on computers. Tony was looking intently at a monitor that was displaying their conversation.
Natasha sighed and looked back at the girl before saying,"Do you remember anything about the past couple of days?"
The girl was shaking violently now and she was unresponsive. Natasha stood up and looked at Tony.
"Hey can I get some help in here!" The red head said firmly, before walking to the girl and rubbing her back in comfort.
The girl lifted her gaze, her hands scratching at her neck frantically, she locked eyes with the super assassin. "I-it's" she whispered, "Hydra."
Natashas eyes widened and the girl collapsed, seizing violently.
Natasha urgently scooped her up into her arms and rushed her out of the room,"Help her!" She yelled.
The paramedics who were waiting outside the door efficiently took the girl and strapped her down to a stretcher. Within a few seconds they were gone, getting the child to the infirmary quickly. Natasha ran a hand through her curly locks and exhaled shakily.
Tony Stark exited the watch room, his gaze calculating as he strolled up to Natasha.
"You did well, Widow, we are going to do more tests on her and then send her to a special center," He said, pulling his sunglasses over his eyes.
"What kind of center," the Assassin asked, worried for the unstable girl.
"One that will get a sense of her capabilities and train her for better use in the future," he said, turning and walking down the hall.
Nat stiffened at those words, remembering her past. She took a step forward her hand balling into a fist.
"Tony, don't do that to her, I'll- I'll take care of her," She called after him, her decision made.
She pitied the young girl, after all she had been apart of the mission that had gotten her home destroyed and killed everyone she had known.
Tony frowned, "You don't need to do that, Nat."
"Yes I do," she said , determined.
"Okay, but-" Tony started, but Natasha was already running down the hall, heading to the infirmary.
She was running to not only the girl, but her new daughter. One she would take under her wing, train, but most of all, love.
