Pain. Such an odd thing. It comes in two forms. All Violet felt was the physical kind. It overtook her entire body, from the tip of her head to the ends of her toes.
She wanted to cry out, but nothing came. She was weak, tired. She was sitting up in a chair. Everything was dark, she could tell she was gagged. Probably blind folded as well.
She began to shake uncontrollably. Memories. Oh memories. The ones she had pushed down, forgotten all those years ago, resurfaced.
Pain. So much pain.
"Ah, your awake."
The voice.
"Violet, tsk tsk, I expected better from our best soldier."
She continued to shake violently.
"So... one thing left to do."
Violet suddenly stopped.
"Kill you, slowly, you are of no use to us now."
The voice. Evil dripped from it like water dripping from a faucet. Violet gasped as something cold sliced through her arm. Violet felt numb.
Suddenly there was a loud noise. Violet heard the voice whisper some colorful words. Violet heard noises of fighting from where she sat.
Hope.
The only thing stronger than pain or fear.
And that's what Violet felt.
The noises stopped and Violet felt her blind fold slowly being peeled off. She opened her eyes to a dark room. But something was funny about her vision.
She couldn't see out of her left eye. She then noticed Peter kneeling in front of her, his eyes puffy.
"Peter?" Violet rasped, her voice raspy from lack of use.
"Violet," he engulfed her in a hug.
He pulled back, and touched her face. Still not completely believing she was really there. Violet then really noticed how bad Peter looked.
Dark circles shadowed his brown eyes. His skin was a shade paler, and his eyes red from crying.
"Peter? What happened?" Violet asked.
Peter took a long breath,"We couldn't find you for a week."
"What?" Violet asked, before fainting.
Peter's arms were ready.

Whispers, light. Why do I keep ending up in these situations? Violet wondered."Violet? Are you awake?" A gentle voice whispered.
She groaned in response. She could here a few people leaving the room.
"What happened?" Violet asked, her eyes still shut.
"Uh- it's a long story," the voice said, in a sad tone.
Violet felt something on her face. She reached up and felt it. It was covering her left eye. She opened her eyes quickly, but she could only see out of the right one. She looked around and realized she was in the new infirmary. She froze when she saw he reflection in a mirror hanging on the wall.
An eye patch covered her left eye, and there was a cut in her dark right eyebrow. A few bruises dotted her neck and arms. She looked thinner.
She turned to look at Peter. He looked like she had seen him a lot lately. Eyes puffy, dark circles lining them.
Silent tears streamed down her face as she opened her arms. Peter leaned down and hugged her tightly.
"I-I was so scared," he said, his voice breaking.
"Shh," Violet soothed.
He pulled back,"I was terrified, I- I can't lose you Violet."
"You accepted me for me, a-and your amazing, the world wouldn't be the same without you," he ran his hands through his already messy hair,"If I had just stayed, this wouldn't have happened if I-"
"Peter, stop. This is not your fault," Violet cut him off.
She hated seeing him in this state. She shakily stood up and Peter was there in a flash, helping her. She steadied herself with his arms. She looked up to his face close to hers.
She cupped his cheek and smiled sadly,"You saved me, Peter."
His breath hitched. She looked so damaged but still, beautiful. Without thinking he leaned in and connected his lips with her. Her eyes were wide with surprise, until instinctively fluttering shut.
She kissed back, their lips moving in sync. At first it was hunger and need, then it turned sweet. Violet played with the hair at the nape of his neck. Sadly, they needed air. Peter pulled back and rested his forehead against hers. Both of them were breathing heavily.
"Finally," Violet whispered.
Peter smiled. Violet smiled softly back. Violet heard the door open and she stepped back. It was Tony.
"You have a visitor," he said, with a knowing smirk on his face.
Violet rolled her eyes and followed Tony down some hallways. They reached one of the interrogation rooms. Through the glass Violet saw her mother, sitting still on one of the metal chairs.
"They've allowed you five minutes with her," Tony said.
Violet slowly nodded her head, and then got ushered into the room. Natasha looked up and Violet took a few steps forward. Nat stood up and the two ran to each other. They collide into a tight embrace. Tears sprouted from Violet's eyes.
"Mom I missed you so much," Violets voice broke as tears threatened to spill.
Nat pulled back and wiped the tears from her daughters face lovingly.
"Violet, I'm so sorry, I should have been there for you," Nat said, sadness filling her voice.
Violet grabbed her moms hand and let out a small smile," There is nothing you could have done don't blame yourself."
"But I should have been able to protect you I-"
"Mom stop," Violet said her smile dropping.
"Your right I'm sorry," Nat met her daughters gaze.
They pulled into a tight hug once again. They stood like that for a few seconds before the door burst open. Two tall men came in and began dragging Nat out.
"Hey get off of me!" Nat managed to yank her arm out of one of their grips.
"Mom?! Mom!" Violet reached out and latched onto her hand.
"I have to go, I love you," Nat said, trying to stay strong in front of her daughter.
"No please I can't lose you again," Violet's voice broke.
A team came in and dragged Natasha away, no matter her protests.
And just like that, she was gone.
