Violet snuck back into the tower. It was difficult, but she convinced F.R.I.D.A.Y to not let Tony know she was back. The tower was even more lonely now that Vision had decided to run off with Wanda.

Violet had a hard time falling asleep that night, wondering what Tony might do to her if he found out she was in the tower. Or he could care less.

The next morning, Violet was tired again. She ran out of the tower that morning, to avoid Tony. She regretted skipping breakfast, because on the car ride to school, her stomach was reciting a whale call.

School was stressful that day. She had tests she had barely studied for, and more homework. In chem, the class was assigned to a partner project. Violet and Peter were paired up, and Violet was happy she didn't get some stranger.

"We can start at my place tonight," Peter offered, as Violet finished packing up her things.

"That sounds good," Violet said.

She was glad she got to spend some one on one time with Peter. She really liked having a friend. Violet had other feelings for Peter as well that she couldn't identify.

The flutter in her chest every time he was near, the pounding of her heart when their arms brushed, and the heat that rose to her cheeks when he laughed when she did something dorky. It nagged at Violet, what is this feeling?

Violet showed up to Peter's apartment at the agreed time, two hours after school let out. She had brought her backpack. She knocked on the door, and it swung open.

Aunt May stood there, and smiled widely when she saw Violet standing there.

"Violet! Come in, come in!" May said, opening the door wider.

Violet stepped into the cozy apartment, allowing the homeliness of it sink in.

"Peter's in his room, feel free to leave the door closed," May said, and walked into the kitchen.

Violet ignored the blush that blossomed on her cheeks and walked over to Peter's door. She raised her fist and knocked.

She heard a muffled,"come in!"

So, she walked in. The room was messy, per usual, and Violet saw Peter working on a computer at his desk. Peter looked up and grinned when he saw Violet.

"Ready to start?" Violet asked dropping her backpack with a soft thud.

"Yeah," Peter replied.

He stood up and made a clearing on the floor. Violet and Peter got to work. A couple hours later May walked into the room.

"Hey, you guys have been working hard, Violet want to stay for dinner?" She asked, placing her hand on her hip.

"Uh sure, let me just ask my-er- Uncle," Violet said.

"Okay,it's ready so come out whenever," May said, and with that walked out.

Violet sent a text to Happy, saying she was staying for dinner. The dinner consisted of what Violet thought was meatloaf. It tasted decent enough.

"Thanks for dinner May," Violet said, shoveling more food into her mouth.

"No worries," May smiled.

They started some small talk, and Peter joined in after a while. Soon they were laughing and Violet felt a sense of warmth. They finished up the meal, and Violet decided to go back to the tower.

"Remember to finish your recording," Violet said.

She was standing at the doorway, her backpack over her shoulders.

"Will do, just remember to edit the video," Peter said.

"This was fun, well as fun as doing a project can get," Violet smiled.

"I-I has fun as well," Peter said, returning her smile.

A silence fell over the pair. Violet didn't know if she should mention the giant bird man.

"See you tomorrow Peter," she said instead.

"Y-Yeah," He said.

Violet gave him a side hug and then left. Leaving behind a blushing Peter.

———————————-

It was Friday, and Violet decided that today was the day to sign up for decathlon. Ned took Violet to see the group supervisor, Mr.Harrington.

"Just swing by at the end of the day for a quick test and you'll be on the team, probably as an alternate," Mr. H said.

Violet nodded, then headed off to class. At the ends of the day, she went back to the cafeteria, which was cleared out. Some kids in were at the front answering questions, Violet saw Michelle and she waved.

Michelle waved back, and then Mr. H called Violet over.

"Liz will give you some questions and you will need to get the majority of them correct," Mr.Harrington explained.

Violet nodded, and walked up to the stage. Liz began asking the questions and Violet answered easily.

"Good job Violet, you got all of them correct," Liz said with a smile, Violet thought looked forced.

"Great, you can take Peter's spot, Flash you're back to first alternate," Mr. H said.

Flash glared at Violet who smirked at him. Violet got down from the stage and Mr.H walked over.

"Here is the information, oh! We are going on a trip to D.C next week for nationals, it would be great if you could come, here is the form," the teacher handed her some papers and Violet nodded gratefully.

She walked over to her backpack, and shoved them in. Deciding she wasn't needed anymore Violet walked out of the room. Walking down the hall, she saw Peter talking to Ned through the shop class window.

She looked scanned what Peter was working on. It was a purple glowing object, it was hooked up to some wires. Violet walked into the room and up to Peter and Ned.

"Hey guys, watcha working on Peter?" Violet asked, referring to the purple egg.

"Uh we-"Peter started.

"A bad guy tried to vaporize him with it," Ned interpreted.

"Hm, pretty basic tech, i use that to charge my tooth brush," Violet said, pointing to what she was talking about.

"That's what I said," Ned said.

Peter slammed the hammer he was holding onto it. The purple thing came out with a bang. The trio looked back at the teacher who didn't look up.

"Keep your fingers clear of the blades," was all he said.

They focused back on the object, which was now free of its encasement.

"We have to find out what this thing is, and who makes it,"Peter said, looking down at it.

"We can run some tests on it,"Ned said.

Then the pair did a handshake. Violet watched them with amusement. Peter put the glowy thingie in his bag and the trio headed out. Peter and Ned were muttering to each other.

Violet squinted when she spotted the men from the bridge.

"Crap," Violet heard Peter say, before he ran to hide behind a wall.

Violet dashed behind him.

"Come on," Peter whispered to Ned.

Ned walked over, his shoes squeaking in the process.

"It's the guys who tried to kill you," Violet whispered.

"How do you know that?" Peter asked her, confusion in his tone.

"I was there," Violet said, as if it were obvious.

"Stay here," Peter said and ran off, leaving Ned and Violet there.
