"Well, this is the place," Mom said, lowering her sunglasses. She shoved them back up."I'll see you tonight," I said. "Bye, and thanks, mom."
She drove off, leaving me in front of the huge mansion. How was I going to do this? I raised my hand, and pressed the doorbell. No, I pressed it wrong. I rang the doorbell wrong. I went to press it the right way with my index finger, but the door swung open.
"Hey, Emma," Landon said. He was shirtless. As in, no clothing on his upper body. His brown hair was a mess, and his tan skin had sheet indents on his arms. I felt my face grow hot. I looked at the bush next to the door. I touched my cheek.
"Oh, shit," Landon said. "Sorry. I accidentally slept in. Uh, come in!"
I stepped inside and followed him into a living room. I set my bag down on the coffee table and sat down.
"I'll go get ready," Landon said, tearing off. I pulled my shoes off and put them next to a glass door that lead to their backyard. I then sat back down on the grey couch.
Landon soon came downstairs showed me what he thought would be a good idea to do the project on. It was the Mona Lisa.
"Sorry we're not doing anything on Astrology," Landon said.
"Just shut up," I said. We wrote out our poster, facts, and Landon absolutely had to recreate a drawing of the Mona Lisa for some laughs.
"We still have, like, two hours before my mom comes," I said, checking my phone.
"I have an idea," He said.
His idea was sliding around on the third floor of his house with socks.
"The third floor is pretty empty," I stated.
"Yeah," Landon said. "We use it mostly for guest rooms." He opened a door and showed me a bedroom.
"Wow," I said. "Okay."
"Okay, wanna have a sliding race?" Landon asked.
"Uh, Hell yeah," I said. "Who do you think I am?"
"Okay, go!" Landon said, sliding away. I quickly ran then slid.
"Emma!" Landon yelled. "Wall!"
"Huh-" I was interrupted by slamming into the wall and falling on my ass. Landon burst out laughing.
"Not very funny," I scoffed. Landon walked over and held his hand out. I gradually took it and let him pull me up. I stumbled forward, making him grab my torso.
"Hey, don't die," Landon said. I stepped away from him.
"I'm fine," I said. My phone buzzed. Truffle was calling.
"Hey Truffle Puff," I said, picking up.
"RYAN BROKE UP WITH ME!" Truffle sobbed. I held my phone away from my ear. Landon's eyes widened.
"He did what?!" I demanded.
"He broke up with me becauseee gasssppp he wants to explore his sexuality!" Truffle wailed.
"Isn't he gay?" I asked.
"Yeah!" Truffle sniffed. "And he apparently doesn't like my purple hair, so I'm bleaching it!"
"Oh my god, Truffle," I sighed. "Don't bleach your hair." Landon sat down on the floor.
"Girl, you need to come over," Truffle said. I heard him sniff loudly.
"Truffle, my moms not going to pick me up for another hour and a half," I said, taking Landon wrist. I checked his watch.
Yeah, about an hour and a half," I said. Truffle burst into another fit of sobs. I dropped Landon's hand.
"Stop crying," I said.
"You've never dated anyone or have fallen in love!" Truffle wailed. "And Marty from fourth grade doesn't count!"
"I completely forgot about Marty, if we're being honest," I said, biting my lip.
"You don't care!" Truffle cried. "Just come over when you can!"
