Landon was right about looking bizarre. Today, the day I met Jade, she had just bleached her hair and dyed the tips bright pink and dark purple. Along with a white T-shirt with aliens on them, black shorts, fishnet stockings, and black leather ankle boots.
I felt under dressed next to her in my maroon hoodie and black leggings.
"So, tell me about you," Jade said. Did I mention her nose ring? She sorta looked like a bull. She looked cool, though.
"I like space," I said, glancing at Landon. Landon sipped on his Sprite and raised his eyebrows as if to say say more. Duh. You like space. More info, dingus.
"And I live with my mom," I said. Why the hell was I so awkward? I bit my lip. The taste of metal filled my mouth. I stopped and looked up. Landon looked away and down at his sprite.
"I live in my own apartment," Jade grinned. "My parents were cool about it."
"What?" I asked. "That's so cool. Like, really."
"What's up, babe?" Someone asked. I looked up and saw Kath running her hands down Landon's shoulder.
"Kath," Landon said, haunching forward. Kath put her hands on her hips. Kassie and Karen stood behind her. Kassie was gripping a coffee. She smirked. Then, she tossed the coffee at me.
I shrieked, standing up and trying to not let the scorching liquid burn my chest. The cafeteria went silent.
"Oops," Kassie yelled. "Sorry! Oh my gosh, too bad I don't have any extra clothing!" I quickly ran out of the cafeteria, hearing Kath's words.
"See you tonight, babe."
"Thanks for the shirt, again," I said. I've never worn a ripped up black shirt before. I looked hella emo with my black leggings. Well, not really.
"Anytime, girl," Jade said, applying more mascara to her eyelashes in the mirror. Looking at myself, I realized something.
I've never been bullied until I met Landon. Everyone just left me alone. I crossed my arms and tossed my hair over my shoulder.
"It gets better," Jade said, smacking her lips from her new coat of lip gloss. She turned and smiled at me. "It seems tough now, but it'll get better. Trust me."
"I just feel embarrassed," I said. "And Kath and Landon are dating?" Jade's smile faded.
"Well, they were sorta a thing," Jade said. "But Kath's insane, as you can tell." I nodded.
"They never actually really broke up," Jade said. "If that makes sense."
"But that's so not fair," I grunted.
"What, do you like him?" Jade asked, smiling widely.
"You're like Truffle," I said. "I don't know, actually."
"I love Truffle," Jade wheezed. "If he weren't gay I'd snatch him like my sister's weave."
"Everyone loves Truffle," I said, opening the door.
"Of course, everyone loves me!"
