I pulled away from Landon. His arm fell from me and he stared at me.
"I'll do something about it," Landon said. "I promise, okay?"
"Yeah, sure," I said, sarcastically. Landon's concerned face suddenly turned into an angered expression.
"I'm trying to look out for you," Landon said. "Why don't you just accept it?"
"Uh, ever thought that maybe things take time?" I asked. "I don't exactly trust you, at the moment." Landon sat in my desk chair, and dropped his head in his hands.
"Sorry," Landon muttered. After a moment of silence, he asked, "Don't you have a trampoline?"
"Yeah," I said.
"Ever been to a trampoline park?" Landon asked.
"No," I said. "Heard of them, though."
"We're going out," Landon said, standing up. He came up to my bed and held his hands out. I lazily put my hands in his and let him pull me up.
"It's supposed to rain later," I said. "Will it be okay?"
"Yeah," Landon said.
Soon, we were at the trampoline park. Landon told me he had a membership there, and he could pay for me.
"Thanks," I said.
"No problem," Landon said, getting out of his car. I followed him inside.
The park was full of kids, teenagers, and some bored looking adults. After Landon signed himself in and paid for me, he dragged me over to the trampolines.
"Can you do any flips?" Landon asked.
"Yeah," I said. I proceeded to jump, flip over, and land on my butt.
"You can't land on your feet?" Landon asked. He jumped, flipped, and landed on his feet.
"So interesting," I said, standing up.
"You upset about no stars tonight?" Landon asked.
"I mean, I don't do it every night," I lied. Won't admit that I sometimes cry when it's cloudy at night. It was my only escape from reality.
"We all have our weird things that we do," Landon said. "Not going to admit anything, but yeah."
After awhile, I was getting tired. Landon must've sensed it, because he asked me if I wanted to go home.
"Yeah," I said. "Let's go."
We went outside, and looked around for his car in the parking lot. We came across it and got inside. Then, it started raining harder.
"I won't be able to drive us back home in this weather," Landon said. We sat in silence. The rain wasn't stopping anytime soon.
"So-"
"Do you think that Kath really hates me?" I asked. "I've never been in a situation like this one before. Like, never. Truffle has, only because he's openly gay! And everyone seems to have a problem with someone. And I feel like I'm the only person who really, really, doesn't want this situation-"
"Em, shut up," Landon said. "Seriously, it's fine!"
"No, it's not," I mumbled. I looked at him. His brown hair was partly matted down from the rain, and parts of it was sticking up. His bright green eyes glowed with worry.
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"Don't be," Landon said.
"No, I'm sorry, I brought you-" Landon grabbed my face. He slowly rested his forehead on mine. His hands trailed down to mine.
"It's okay," Landon said. I had a sudden urge to kiss him. The way he looked at me just now, made my chest flutter. I absentmindedly leaned in. Landon brushed his lips against mine.
He looked at me for reassurance. I kissed him, feeling the world fall away. His hand rested below my ear, with his thumb slowly caressing my cheek. I stopped and glanced up at him.
Landon looked a bit unfocused.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Shut up," Landon said, pressing his lips against mine again.
