     I was finally outside.

And then I was hit by a car.

I felt my breath catch in my throat as I heard the brakes screeching at me, and suddenly I was staggering backward, trying my hardest not to end up kissing the floor of the parking lot. When I regained my balance, I looked up to see a family of three, mouths gaping, all staring right at me. That's when an idea struck my spinning mind, and I heard the banging on the slammed door behind me become louder and more troubling.

"H-Hey!" I screamed, scrambling to pull the paper-bills from my pocket, "T-Take me with you!"

A woman of a dark complexion, who I assumed was the mother of the weeping boy she was cradling in the back seat, looked at me with skeptical fear.

"I have three-hundred dollars!" I shouted, finally freeing the notes from their pouch in my jeans and waving them frantically in the air, "In cash!"

The pale-faced man in the driver's seat, who appeared to be the father of the family, nodded timidly at me. I sprinted to the car and pulled open the car door. I jumped into the passenger seat, but as I grabbed the handle to pull the door shut, I saw the dented back door of the store burst open, revealing two ruthless human animals that began to charge towards us. My eyes widened as I tugged on the handle of the car door, and could not believe my bad luck. The door wouldn't budge.

My breathing became panicked as I put my second hand on the handle and began to pull with all my strength, hearing the screaming of the boy behind me becoming frantic, kicking against his mother's tight embrace as the growling and huffing of the animals came close enough to feel. I screamed as I saw the animal reaching its claw towards me, pulling the door towards me with all my strength until--,

     BAM!

     The door was shut.

It slammed closed so forcefully that I was thrown to the side of the car, my face smashing into the window. A wave of relief washed over me as I released a trembling sigh.

     Finally. I was safe.

     THUNK!

I felt my heart jump out of my chest when red splattered my vision, a blood-oozing stub of a wrist smashing against the glass in front of my eyes. I yelped, pushing myself as far away from the crimson-dripping window as possible, finding myself slamming into the cushion-like side stomach of the father as an electric energy sizzled in my throat

"Holy shit! DRIVE! DRIVE!! " I screamed, not taking my eyes off of the animals banging furiously on the car window. The driver stomped on the pedal, the tires began to squeal, and we sped away at lightning pace. We swerved out of the parking lot and I was once again thrown against the door, attempting to regain my balance as we rocketed down the road in a zigzag manner.

"I'm D-Davey," the father stammered, snatching my focus from the screams, gunshots, and growls by the burning buildings.

"My name is Quinn," I gasped, almost choking on the words.

We turned sharply past a police car that had wrapped itself around a streetlamp, as I dug my nails into the sides of the black leather seat to avoid flying into Davey again. I grabbed the seat belt hastily and shoved it into its socket with a click, taking a moment to see what was going on.

     There was only one word for it;

     Chaos.

We veered left and right to avoid crashing into cars which piled up on the streets. Panicking pedestrians ran amock among police patrols, all being chased and chewed on by the crazed animals that now dominated the city streets.
