chapter 6 : pull through

"Munirah, can I ask you something real quick?" Came in her father who peeked his head into her room, a soft smile on his face.

"Even if I said no you would still ask me. So come in dad," Munirah says sarcastically as she turned off her phone and sat upright, giving her attention to him.

"Wow, you know me so well," chuckled the older man who walked into her room, closing it behind him. His tall and built figure walked over to the edge of the bed where he took a seat, rubbing his hands on his knees as he looked at his only child that he truly adored. "How have you been?"

Munirah raised an eyebrow up at her father in amusement, "You came in here to ask me that? Why didn't you shoot me a text or even a video message?"

He rolled his eyes and shook his head at her, "Because I want to have an actual conversation with you."

"Mmh," Munirah hummed, he was up to something and she knew it. Yeah, it was sweet that he wanted to check up on her because he has been super busy but it was so random.

"I just wanted to ask what have you been spending money on lately?" And there it was—the question.

"Why would you ask that?" She asked tilting her head to the side in curiosity. He has never asked about her money and how she spent it. So this was super odd, and it kinda made her a bit worried.

"Well your financial manager just told me that you have pulled about $500,000 worth of money in this last month," he informed her.

Munirah's frowned deepened, "Why did she even have to tell you that? She didn't have to go out of her way to tell you how much money I've been spending. It's in my own banking account, so why did she have to tell you out of all people?"

"I'm sorry honey, I didn't mean to overstep. Really, I apologise. I didn't mean to seem like I was being nosey," he sincerely apologized, and the honest truth is that he didn't even suspect anything suspicious of her spending money because he didn't mind at all. But the way he asked about it so suddenly gave Munirah the wrong impression, thinking that he was going to pester her about it but that wasn't even his intentions.

"It's fine," Munirah sighed, feeling relieved that he didn't assume anything that would lead to the fact that she has been giving money out to the poor like it was nothing. That was the last thing she wanted her father to find out.

"She just flat out told me and left. I was confused because I don't care how much money you spend, I really don't. So again, I'm sorry," her father apologized again.

"It's okay dad," she assured him with a soft smile, grabbing his hand to give it a gentle squeeze.

"What do you want me to do with her?" Her father then asked.

"Fire her," Munirah demanded bluntly.

"Anything to make you happy. Love you," her father laughed before he leaned over to plant a kiss on her nose like he has always does.

"Love you too," she replied.

Just before he was about to leave he turned around with that certain look on his face.
