chapter seven : a fancy ball

Every two months in Riverview County there was a fancy ball that was hosted in the Danville Center. A place where ceremonies were held, movie premiers, over the top birthday parties, and etc. This is where all the rich people came in their finest attire, ate fancy food, and drunk on expensive wine while they just talked about absolutely nothing. What made it even worse is that Munirah has attended every single one of them ever since her father was elected mayor. Unfortunately, she had to play the good daughter in front of all these people that she did not like nor did know—and she really didn't have a choice whether she wanted to go or not.

"Are you excited for the ball?" Asked her father with a happy smile on face, nudging her side playfully with his elbow.

"Always dad," Munirah smiles with a nod of her head. She had never expressed how much she hated going to these events. But he was always so happy and that made her hold back on what she really felt about these occasions that were thrown for absolutely no reason.

"You know I'm very proud to call you my daughter, you know that? You make me so happy and I wouldn't be here without you," he says placing a hand on top of hers lovingly.

Munirah gave her father a soft smile, "That means a lot."

Once the limo door opened her father stepped out of the vehicle, lifting his arm up to his daughter, "Now, let's have a good time, yeah?"

"Yeah," Munirah agreed, forcing a smile upon her face.

With their arms looped around each other they walked into the huge building with powerful and confident steps. Body guards surrounded them as they made the crowd split in half just for them. Everybody cheered and clapped for them, simply because everybody in this center loved the both of them. Mayor Dols was such an iconic leader and his daughter was just as loved as well. They praised the ground they walked on and worshipped everything they did. Even though Munirah didn't like this attention there was nothing she could do about it.

She had to fake through it all. The smiles meant nothing, and if she told you to take care she really didn't mean it. She hated all these people that swarmed her with questions that she didn't feel like answering and engulfed her in conversations that she didn't want to be apart of. They always expected so much from her and that stressed her out. Just because she was the mayor's daughter meant that she had to do everything perfect, but the sad truth is that she was no where perfect. Yet, Munirah had an image to contain and she had to deal with this bullshit.

"And royalty arrives," grins one of her father's colleagues that nodded his head in respect at them.

"Hello Randy," Mayor Dols smiled, taking his arm back from his daughter.

"Hello princess, you look exceptionally beautiful tonight," Randy eyed the woman up and down with the quick movement of his eyes. His gaze staring at her chest more than intended, but he cleared his throat and smiled widely at her. "How are you?"

"I'm doing fine, thank you very much," Munirah replied with a fake smile, totally noticing that he was checking her boobs out and she wanted to slap him in his face for it because he had the audacity to do it while her father was near—and he didn't even notice it anyway.
