My phone started ringing, waking me out of my slumber. I let it ring as I tried to go back to sleep, but Nadia hit my arm.
"Aug your phone." She groaned. "I know jus' let it ring." I said wrapping my arms around her waist.
"It must be urgent." She sat up as it rang again. "Aight." I huffed and grabbed my phone see it was Britney.
"Who is it?" Nadia asked as her head slipped like she was falling back to sleep. "Nobody go back to sleep, it's for the shop."
She nodded and slid back under the covers. I grabbed my phone and walked out the room to go downstairs.
"Fuck is ya' callin' me fo?" I answered as she called for the fifth time. "Why you ain't tell me you had a whole family?"
"Bitch, get off my shit wit' this I aint got time fo' you." I went to hang up. "August wait I'm pregnant."
I scrunched up my face.
"Congratulations, why you tellin' me? We ain't neva' fuck." I said truthfully. I never cheated on Nadia and I don't plan to in the future.
"But—" She said but I hung up. I heard shuffling behind me, but I was in the dark. So I went over to the light switch and flicked it up.
I saw BreAnna in the refrigerator with a sandwich in her hand. My eyes widened at the fact that she heard me on the phone, not that she was in my fridge eating everything.
"How much of that did you hea?" I asked. "All of it."
I went to say something, but she cut me off. "So what's the actual truth?"
"Everything I said."
"Then how she got your number dumbass? How she know your name? How does she know you? If you ain't fuck, how she got all this shit on you?" She bombarded me with questions which got me loss for words.
"Tell me August, you had so much to say on that call, say that shit now!" She yelled. "Shh you trynna wake up Nadia?" I quieted her.
"I'm already woke. What you fussing about?" She wiped her eyes. "Bre what you doing here?" Nadia hugged her, but Bre kept eyeing me.
"Came in early boo, it was supposed to be a surprised but August came and saw me."
"Oh yeah, did you answer the call?"
"Yeah." I said looking between her and Bre, who was behind Nadia mouthing "tell her".
"Everything okay?"
"Yeah, Imma gone head and walk Bre out." I kissed Nadia's cheek. "Walk me out? I'm talking to my sister." She mugged me.
"It's four inna mawnin' y'all can talk lata." I pushed here towards the door. "You better tell her before I do." She gritted and walked out the door.
"Y'all crazy." Nadia laughed heading back up the stairs. "Damn." I huffed under my breath.
It ain't like nothing happened, I might as well tell her.
* "Girl yes, I wake up four in the morning because Bre and Aug down stairs fussing. Over what? I don't know, but they were going at it." I shrugged talking to Terraine on the phone as I laid in my bed.
