a strong, bright light pierced through the crack of the open door that laid before me. it seemingly sliced through the darkness like a ray of hope that rung out through all of the galaxy. my pupils expanded to let it all in. it was simply brilliant.

for a moment, that light was all i could see. it reminded me of my mother. she had been like that light. well, for me at least. she was beautiful and bright.

but, now was not exactly the time to be reminiscent.

finn stood solemnly next to me. he was silent but, it was comforting and yet it stirred something in me. a nervous storm.

i awaited the climax. i played with some lose tool that hung from my dress, my now long nails became tangled in them.

finn noticed my distress, he looked at me for a moment. i looked back at him through the corner of my eye. he placed his hand on mine and said nothing . he just smiled. i supposed that was his little way of telling me that it would be alright. god he had a way of getting to me. maybe it was because i'm his mistress. but, maybe it's something more.

i looked ahead confidently, my foot tapped rapidly though, nervous habit. i just couldn't escape this out of body feeling. i was about to come face to face with the one who started it all. a superior being.

it made me feel, so small. so extremely small.

what will he think of me? what if i'm unworthy of becoming an angel? i just can't go back to the land of the forgotten. it was terrible there. and it's exactly where finn wasn't. i needed him now.

the doors began to open, a squeaking sound escaped them. i backed away anxiously, finn grabbed my hand. he nodded at me and pulled me forward, forcing me through the door.

the image that hung before me was unclear for a moment. i blinked hard, focusing forward. my eyes widen as the picture became clear.

it was a statue.

just a stone statue

in the middle of a blank room.

i turned to finn. "finn? what is this?"

he looked down at me, one of his eyebrows cocked up. "why that is god, mistress" he replied cooly.

"no no no finn that is a statue" he looked at me like i was the biggest idiot he had ever met. he held back a laugh.

"follow my lead" he said as he winked at me. he walked towards the statue, my face was completely flushed. we neared closer to the statue, i felt some kind of energy from it. it was almost like it was pulling me in.

i stuck my hand out and reached for the stone figure. we soon made contact. a blue light surrounded my hand and illuminated the statue. it grew larger and larger, a face and hands forming. i stared up at it in aw.

a heart warming smile formed on his face. "hello my child." he spoke with a smooth voice. the words i wanted to say were caught in my throat.

"she gets a bit tongue tied at times, sir" finn answered for me. i shook my head, snapping out of it.

"it's a pleasure, sir." i managed to say, my words stood in the air.

"the pleasures all mine. you're a special one miss brown" he let out a small laugh. "it's been awhile since finns brought me one like you. he told me a lot about-"

finn cut him off. "yes yes she gets it sir." he cleared his throat. "now, tell her what you and" he scoffed at the name "he decided." by that i'm sure he meant whoever ruled the land down under. i'm sure there fued was an interesting one.

"well," his large figure turned to me. "you fall in between the holy world and the world of the forgotten."

"l-like a fallen angel?" i ask him as i looked up at him.

"yes, exactly like that." he answered humbly. "not only does this mean that it will be harder for you to find out how you died but, it also means that your risk of corruption has increased." a concerned look crossed his eye, he seemed almost jittery.

"but, that's what you have me for." finn stated as he looked in my direction. "i will protect her sir, without a doubt." he held up his head pridefully.

"i have much trust in you finn. i know you will not let me down." that smile returned to his face. "good luck, my children"

the once lively man, turned back into stone. the light in his eyes still remaining. he sure didn't say long but, his words had quiet the impact.

"what am i supposed to make of this?" i looked to finn helplessly.

"well, it looks like it's finally time." he smirked as he came closer to me.

"time for what?" i asked him, my eye widening.

"time for you to earn your wings."
