the ground that shook under my feet woke me that morning. the palace that laid before me was starting to collapse.

i looked to my left, and then to my right. finns bed was empty.

my newfound wings were folded close to my body. i stood, struggling to keep my balance.

"finn? finn!" i called out. nothing. where was he?

his angel helpers passed by me in a frenzy.

"hey!" i called out to them. they stopped instantly. "where's finn?" i asked them.

"we cannot find him." one answered with despair as the others moved around rapidly. "we must get you out of here miss millie. it is not safe here."

"what's going on?" i had to know. the sky doesn't just start falling for no reason.

"there has been a disagreement between the elders. they're all coming for you." thats all they said. before they disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"wait!" i called out. i huffed in my fury. the ceilings here were high, i flapped my wings. i hadn't practiced my flying to much yet but, i had to find finn. he'd know what was going on.

my eyes scanned the floor below me. no sign of him. just crazed eyes staring from the bottom.

the people below me they were, fighting.

the wore white and red.

some held halos, others horns.

what the hell is going on.

amongst the haze of clanging swords and bloodshed, i spot finns distinctive curls. he is floating just above the crowd. he doesn't bare a sword nor any amour. he's just, watching.

i swoop down to him, the wind catching in my wings and forcing me backwards. in an attempt to steady myself, finn makes eye contact with me. a worried expression passes by his face as he rushes over to me.

"millie, i mean ah mistress, what are you doing here! you should be at the palace!" he barked at me. i couldn't tell if he was worried or mad. guess i was about to find out.

"it collapsed finn. your little minion things told me to leave and that i was in danger. i figured you'd know what to do. please just talk to me finn" i pleaded to him. i never knew what was going on in my strange new reality. this time i had to know.

he was quite for a moment. he rolled his eyes. "come with me." he said expressionlessly as he grabbed my hand.

he flapped his wings fast and hard, thrusting us forward. the wind hit my face at rapid speeds but, i gave him a boost with my own wings.

he brought us to a broken down building, a destroyed safe house.

"a wars broke out." he said as he checked his surrounding cautiously.

i was speechless. like how the hell are suppose to react to that with flipping the fuck out? i just remained silent and let him do the talking.

"the angels and the demons. god and the devil had an argument about the half breeds. they both want to keep them themselves. the devil, he is selfish and unreasonable. god tries his best to be fair but there is just no pleasing him."

finn dropped his gaze for a moment. he spoke with such a shakiness that i've never heard in his voice before.

"so, he sent his demons to attack the angels. it was a passive morning until they showed up. they ruin everything. i despise violence. i did not fight along side my fellow angels. and that may make me a coward but, this isn't right." he bit his lip and held back tears.

his home was being destroyed. it couldn't blame him for worrying that it may never go back to its former glory.

i placed my hand on his shoulder and took a deep breath. i looked up at him. "as your mistress i wont stand for seeing you in such dismay. have faith in your comrades finn. they would never left down there head angel." i smiled at him, my eyes looking into his.

his lip began to quiver. a gloss fell over his eyes. he fell slightly forward, falling into me. he placed his head in my chest. i wrapped my arms around him and stroked the back of his head.

he really was human. with the same human emotions. he too had a breaking point.

he let his walls down and let me see the vulnerable side of him.

"thank you." he mumbled from where i held him. he sniffed briefly. "thank you for being my shield."

"what kind of mistress would i be if i wasn't?" i don't know how i was keeping so cool. a war was going on outside and yet i was here, consoling a heart broken boy. the screams blurred into the background.

"now it's time for me to protect you. and your honor." he spoke with a serious tone that made me feel safe. he stood up, grabbing my hand to pull me up with him.

we stood confidently as we faced the on going war.
