Sontari stared out of the metal window into the seemingly endless pool of black that was space. They could see stars. Distant stars of course, but it added a livelihood to the abyss.
The escape pod was a lonely place. At the moment, it only held Sontari, food, a few dozen packs of sodoku, and a depressing mood. Sontari closed their eyes and imagined herself back to earth. They would give anything to feel the grass between their toes, the sun on their skin, to hear the birds, and other people.
She hugged her knees to her chest as she floated aimlessly about the pod, when suddenly, a tap on the window.
Sontari forced her eyes open to be met with.. a kid.
She looked around the age of 10, with a galaxy for skin, and stars for freckles. Her eyes were those of supernovas, and she had hair of space dust.
Sontari didn't know how to react to this.
The child tapped the window again.
Sontari opened the door on the vacuum lock, letting the girl in after a process or two.
The girl looked at Sontari, then touched her arm.
"Mama, I want to go home," she said calmly.
Sontari pulled herself together and replied, "I.. don't think I'm your mother."
The girl looked at her with an expression of sadness, and possibly disbelief.
"Kid.. I'll.. I'll take care of you for now. But you need a name. ..Star? Yeah. You're Star now."
"Mama, I want to show you something."
"..What is it?"
Star dragged Sontari to the door, and through it. Sontari was astonished at the fact she just went through a wall.... and was breathing. In open space.
Star dragged Sontari past moons, stars and planets, past all known space. They were in a weird, blue and purple jungle.
"Mama. This is where all things come from."
Star pressed a small, blue and white orb in Sontari's hand.
"You are part of us, Mama."
Sontari was speechless.
"Open it when you're ready, Mama. You'll remember. You'll remember me, Mama."
Sontari woke up, still on the ship. Not an escape pod, a ship. No one had died.
In her palm was a small blue and white orb.
"You'll remember. You'll remember me, Mama."
She pocketed it. She decided to open it on a later day.AN: this will be continued in the next chapter but I need to sleep
