Adriana Zavesky had never been so afraid in her life. She had never been afraid of what she could do. Until now. Now she could no longer understand her powers. She didn't even know what they were anymore. Every time that darkness surged, she felt it. That malevolence. She did not understand why something coming from her own body seemed so... evil. It was like it had a mind of its own.

Of course, she wouldn't tell Tony or Steve or any of her fellow Avengers as it would only make her seem crazy.

"Why don't you just sleep?" The Captain asked her as he settled into her desk chair.

"I'm afraid I'll lose control," she said, sitting up in her bed. She ran her fingers through her tangled dark hair, a grimace crossed her face as her nails got caught in a difficult knot. She could feel the sleep in her eyes, her lids heavy.

"Wouldn't it make it worse if you're tired all the time?"

"Maybe, but if I'm asleep I know I'll have no control. The only thing keeping it at bay is staying conscious."

"What if you went to a public place and fell asleep? If you lost control in a public place that would he a whole lot worse than what would happen if you slept here."

Adriana opened her mouth to speak but then was stopped before she could even start. "I also agree. You saw what happened today, and you even slept last night. I can't imagine what would happen if you didn't. I mean, look at her Steve, she's a wreck."

"Tony," Steve gave the billionaire a look.

"Thanks for the input, Stark." She glared at him but gave it up seconds later, a yawn escaping her.

"I'm gonna go get a coffee, and then we can all stay in here and keep me awake because why not?" She moved to throw off her bedsheets but was struck in the neck with something sharp. Eyes rolling to the back of her head, she fell back onto her pillow, a soft snore emitting from her.

"What the hell Tony?" Steve shot up from the chair, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood in front of said man.

"What?" Stark feigned innocence, then huffed out a breath. "She needed the sleep, Steve! Anyways, in the morning we're going to move her to the training room so that she won't feel like she's going to hurt us."

The Star-Spangled Man shook his head as he pushed passed him, entering the hallway, "You better not blame me for this when she wakes up."

"Don't worry about it." Tony didn't plan on leaving anytime soon as he sat in Adriana's desk chair. Hopefully he didn't just doom everyone in Avengers Tower to a dark fate.

The next morning Adriana refused to talk to Steve or Tony, avoiding them as she made preparations for the stupid party Stark wanted to throw. "Stupid, stupid, stupid." She muttered to herself as she placed glasses onto the shelves behind the bar counter. Loud clanking noises filled the room as she continued to curse Tony's name.
