(COMPLETED) Cliffhanger's Night of Murder

Chap 2: The first murder

It was 1am when there was a big storm outside.

At that time,I remember i heard someone knocking on the door.

My head was still dizzy back then, so i walked to my door tiredly. I opened it and saw the Mayor was standing there, holding a briefcase.

Harold: "Oh Mayor Barenko, *yawn* wha-what are doing here in this hour?"

Barenko: "Sorry Harold, but i just remembered some paperwork needs to be done soon."

Harold: "Can't we just do that tomorrow?"

Barenko: "They are very important and a lot. Tomorrow will be our main event for this celebration here and you don't want to be busy on that day."

Harold: "Ughhhh, fine! Lets do this!"

So we spent a good amount of time checking mails, doing reports, signing, dealing with people's harassment, sorting out Mayor's past criminal record blah blah blah...It was boring and i'm exhausted.

After awhile, i checked the clock and it had been 3am.

"Omg! 3 o'clock already??? How much more do we have to do?" I complained

Barenko: "We're almost done now and..Oh yeah! I forgot another file in the party room downstairs. Can you go get it?"

Harold: "Fine but i expect extra pay!!!"

As i went down the stairs, it was dark, really dark. The only light i could use to see was the moonlight. But even that was covered by the stormy clouds outsides. So i barely see anything, i tried to look for the light switch but i didnt know where it was.

I was slowly walking in the dark then suddenly i stumble over something on the floor and fell over it.

I got up but my hands were feeling that the floor got a bit sticky.A lightning struck outsides and its light revealed the thing on the floor is...

"Blood???" -I asked myself. Then i looked back at the thing i just stumble over. The lighting struck one more time and this time it revealed a dead body on the floor. It was the master,James!!!

I was shocked and crawled back quickly. I accidentally made a big vat behind me fell and got broken.

Seem like the sound of the broken vat got somebody attention and i could hear the footsteps while i was still lying on the floor, terrified.

The light was switched on moments after. I saw detective Billy came in as he said: "What was that sound?-OH GOD THERE HAS BEEN A MURDER!!!"

Then from behind Butler Peter came in and he also said: "What is the matter?-OMG MURDER!!!"

Cook Erika followed him behind as she said the same thing: "The fuc-MURDERRRRRR!!!"

The detective told them to stay out of the room and then came to me aggressively. He pulled me up and yelled at me:

"What the hell happened here HUH ? Who is in charge around here? Trick question:that guy..."
As he pointed at James' corpse
"...But he is dead now. Which makes ME in charge and you listen up,bucko! You are my prime suspect so you better explain as to the what, where, why and when you happen to be here upon this man's death?"

Before i could answer anything, Butler Peter said: "Sir the body is cold. He has been dead for awhile now"

"What?" The detective said as he put me down. He checked the body , he later said:"Hmm...your right! Handsome. BUT  i thought i told you to STAY OUT of this room"

Butler Peter: "I was worried about the master-"

Detective Billy: "Or were you trying to tamper with the crime scene?"

Butler Peter: "NONSENSE! Im the most loyal butler to the master. I would NEVER do such disgraceful thing like this"

Detective Billy: "Yeah right. We'll see about that. Now get back to YOU! Harold Wingdington. Can you now explain?"

Harold: "I was taking some files for the Mayor until i suddenly found the body. Thats all. Believe me!!!"

The detective looked closer into my eyes for few seconds. Then he said: "Hmm a likely story that i happen to believe completely. Alright! You're off the hook...for NOW. But i am a detective and-"

Cook Erika: "Oh yeah! How do we know we can trust you? Dickhead!"

Butler Peter: "I have to agree with the cook this time. As far as i concerned, you could be the murderer too, sir detective"

Detective defended himself: "Humf there is nobody you can trust here more than me. You can let me solve this myself and catch the murderer quickly or you can let him/her go around the house like that and be the next one on his/her list?

Butler: "I think we should call the authorities first" as he went have a call.

As we were waiting for the butler to finish the call, we covered the body with a blanket and looked over it.The detective also searched around the room to find anything suspicious.

The Mayor came inside the party room after hearing a loud argument of the detective earlier, except for Lucky...

Mayor Barenko: "What the hell happened here?"

Harold: "Sorry Mr,Mayor. There has been a murder"

Mayor Barenko: "Who?!?"

Cook Erika: "Its James!"

Detective Billy: "I'm afraid he's been telling the truth. James' been...killed"

Mayor Barenko: "I cannot believe it. How and who?"

Detective Billy: "I cannot say anything yet. Now, we have to wait for the cops to-"

Butler Peter came inside the room and interrupted the detective: "Bad news! All of the phones have lost connection"

I quickly pulled out my cellphone and checked it.

Harold: "Yeah he is right! There is no more service here!"

The others also checked their phones and their phones also didnt catch any service.

Detective Billy: "The murderer must have done this. Look like im gonna be the one who will take care of this case"

Cook Erika: "I don't think so.Dickhead"

Mayor Barenko: "No! I have been knowing the detective for long time now.We can trust him"

Butler Peter: "If you say so"

Detective Billy: "Okay then. Butler!!! You will check on others guests . Cook!!! You check all the doors AND windows. Anywhere that the outsiders can use to get in here, to see if you find any signs of intruders and finally, Mr.Mayor, you will go back to your room, lock yourself in there and hope that you won't be the next"

Everyone followed the detective's instructions and went away, left me alone with him.

Harold: "Soooo...what am i gonna do?"

Detective Billy: "You are gonna be my partner on this"

Harold: "Why? How can you trust me that easy?"

Detective Billy: "Because you look like a trustworthy....somebody and i know that we JUST MET. But i am an excellent judge of a character, excellent like a fox *wink* *wink*. So will you help me?"

Harold: "Uhm sure. So what do you find so far?"

Detective Billy: "Well nothing . But with that crazy storm outside, the murderer must have still been here in this house and better yet, i have a feeling that the murderer is none other than one of US"

Okay, chap 2 is done.Now i can go back to play with my LEGOs.
