Seb's P.O.V
I stood in their doorway, a mixture of excitement and nervousness emanating from every pore on my body as I contemplated what I'd come here to talk about. There wasn't anyone I would trust more than Noah and Katy when it came to this. They were the people I needed to talk to when it came to Mia. No one knew her better than the people in this very room.
"Seb? Mate?" Noah asked tentatively, concern evident in his voice. "What's up? Is it Mia? Is everything okay?"
He gestured for me to step into their luxurious Penthouse suite, so I headed in, taking a seat at the kitchen counter next to Katy as Noah followed closely behind, having shut the door. Katy looked equally as concerned as Noah, no doubt unsure and surprised at my arrival here, alone.
"I'm sorry to just drop in on you both like this. But I really need your help with something important."
"Okay..." Katy stood up from her seat, heading over to the kettle pulling out two mugs from the cupboard. "If you could cut to the chase with it that would probably be a bit easier." She gestured at Noah's tense expression and clenched fists. "We knew something was going on a while back but we didn't know what it was."
"It's not anything bad - at least, I wouldn't say so. Mia might have something different to say about it, as might you two. That's why I'm here."
Both Katy's and Noah's eyebrows were drawn together - confused. Katy was right, I needed to just spit out my problem, find out what they thought about it all and then get on with making a decision on what to do.
"I want to ask Mia to marry me."
There was a collection of sounds all at once: the kettle boiling, Katy's screech of - what appeared to be - joy, and Noah's gasp of shock at the statement I'd made. Then I found that Katy had her arms around me, hugging me tightly as she laughed on my shoulder, probably relieved more so than anything, now that she knew what was going on.
"I wanted to ask you what you two thought and, in a way, get your permission to ask her...I mean, seen as though her Dad isn't really around anymore," Katy let go of me, realising I was directing the conversation towards Noah. "You're the next best person to go to. You've known Mia for years, you're the closest people to her and I trust you both to tell me whether you think it's a good idea or a bad one."
"Are you kidding? I've been waiting for this for at least two years now!! Mia's going to be over the moon, Seb! Honestly, I can't wait - your wedding is going to be incredible!!"
"Woah! Calm down Katy, I haven't even popped the question yet."
"But you're going to!!"
"It depends. Do you mind if I have a few minutes? Just so I can talk to Noah. Y'know, man-to-man and all that."
"Course."
Katy nodded her head, a broad smile on her face as she took her cup of tea, placing mine on the placemat in front of me, then she left to go sit in the study room down the hall. "Seriously mate, I'm sorry to have sprung this on you. It's just I've been thinking about it for so long now. Everyone seems to be getting engaged or married and I just want to lock her down, y'know. Truly make her mine. Does that...make sense?" I apologised sincerely, feeling guilty for putting them both in this situation.
"Seb...It really couldn't make any more sense. I understand exactly what you mean, it's the same reason why most men pop the question. I just...I need to know that you'll look after her. She's been through so much, and I could never forgive myself if my support of your actions, made her - in anyway - upset again. She shouldn't be unhappy. She deserves to get everything that she wants." Noah looked directly into my eyes from the other side of the counter. "You've been what she's wanted for over a decade now. I can't exactly see her saying no, so why should I? Who am I to stop the happy couple?"
