New Discoveries

Chapter 3

We had been in London for the past 4 days and today was the day that I'm meant to go to my first unltrasound. It was all Josh that sorted it out just like he said he was going to. He really is a great brother, and I can't wait for him to have a baby.

I slid out of bed and grabbed some clothes. I walked into the bathroom and quickly changed, before brushing my teeth. I brushed my hair and then woke up my brother. "Josh" I whispered. "Josh" I said a bit louder. "Joshua John Devine, wake up!" I whisper-yelled in his ear. His eyes flew open and he sat up. "Whats wrong?" he asked. "I'm going to my doctors appointment" I said. He nodded. "Is Sarah going with you?"

"Yeah, she is just getting changed, and then we are going to get Niall" I said putting on my Nike air's.  He nodded as I pulled the charger out of my phone. Sarah came out of the bathroom and got her phone and put it in her pocket. "Ready?" she asked. "Nervous" I said. "Don't be. Everything will be fine" she said putting on her shoes. "Let's go" She said pulling the door open. I walked out and down the hall to Niall's room. I knocked on the door and in a matter of seconds Niall appeared with his phone in his hand. "Hi Jess, I was just about ot text you" he said, slidding his phone in his pocket. "Hi Sarah" he said smiling. "Hi" she said putting her wallet in her pocket. "Ready to go?" I asked Niall, who looked around his room. "Yeah" he said closing the door behind him.

The journey to the doctors was silent until Sarah spoke up. "So Jess. Do you want a boy or girl"

"I honestly don't know and don't mind" I said. She laughed. "What do you want it to be Niall?" Sarah asked. "What, oh, um I don't really know because it's not my baby" he said, his cheeks going a little red.

We pulled up to the car park and Niall parked the car. I could feel my hands starting to get sweaty. We got out the car and I took a deep breath, and we started to walk into the building.

We walked upto the desk and a young looking woman sat behind it tapping away on her keyboard. She looked up at us and smiled. "Hello, how can I help you?" she asked. "I'm here for my ultrasound" I said as Sarah and Niall stood on either side of me. "Ok. Can I get your name please" she said clicking a few things. "Jessica Devine" I said as she tapped away. "Ok, take a seat and the doctor will be out in a few minutes" she said pointing to the waiting room. I smiled at her and walked over to the waiting room.

We sat down and each pulled out our phones. We sat for a few minutes until a doctor came out and called my name. We walked into the room, where there was a little machine set up and a bed. "Ok Jess, if you just lay down on the bed we can get started" she said. I did as I was told and got on the bed. "Ok before we start, my name is Dr Smith" she said looking at the three of us. "And you must be the baby's daddy" she asked Niall. He blushed and said "Um no, I'm not" while looking down. "Sadly" he whispered, thinking no one heard him. "Oh I'm sorry" she said. "It's fine" I said reassuring her. "Anyway, lets look at your baby" she said setting up the machine. "This is going to be cold" she said before putting a substance on my stomach. It wasn't cold or anything, it was freezing. She grabbed a little machine and rolled it over my stomach. She pointed at the screen. "You see that. That is your baby" she said pointing to the blob on the screen. A tear came to my eye as I looked at the baby on the screen that was moving around. I looked over at Niall who also had a tear in his eye. He grabbed my hand and held it tight. "Would you like to know the gender?" the doctor asked. I nodded straight away. "Ok your baby is a boy" she said printing out some pictures. I was full on crying now. I couldn't believe that there was a little human in my belly and he was all mine. I just can't wait to tell Tom, he's going to be so happy. The doctor wiped the stuff off my stoumach and I jumped off the bed. Niall pulled me into a big hug. "Jess I'm so happy for us, I mean you, yeah you, omg" he said running out of the room. "What happened there?" Sarah asked. "I don't really know, it all happened rather quickly, but he said that he was so happy for us and then corrected himself and said that he was happy for me" I said while Sarah hugged me. "I'm sure he will be fine" she said letting go. "Thank you for this" I said to the doctor. "Thats ok, I guess I will see you soon" she said opening the door for us. "Possibly, yes" I said walking out with Sarah. We walked down the hall and found Niall sat in the waiting room with his head in his hands. I walked over to him and hugged him. "Niall are you ok?" I asked. He looked up and his eyes were red. "Jess I'm really sorry for what I said I was totally out of line" he said hugging me back. "Don't be silly we all slip up sometimes" I said pulling back. He nodded. "Come on lets go and tell everyone" I said standing up with my hand out for him to take it. He grabbed hold of it and stood up with me. We walked out of the building. He looked down at our hands and let go.
