When Opal woke up she was surprised how good she felt tangled in Sander's arms. His body was so warm pressed up against hers and she found herself drifting peacefully in and out of sleep. How could she have lived without him before?

"Morning mate," Sander said as he gently hugged her to him. "How are you feeling?" Opal was sure she'd feel sore when she stood up, but for now— Opal moved closer and placed her lips on Sander.

"Hmm," Sander chuckled "as much as I'd love to see where this leads  again, we should go eat some breakfast."

"I agree," Opal said blissfully as she watched Sander stand up and admired his naked body. That was her's and would be for eternity.

"Would you like to shower with me, Opal?"

"Hmm," she said as she pretended to consider it "is it a command, my alpha?"

"It's possible," Sander smirked as he held his hand out to her.

"I like it," she laughed in response as they disappeared into the bathroom with her mate.

Later that day Sander and Opal received a response. "Your sister, Julian, and Vargas will arrive here shortly," Sander announced with a worried expression on his face.

"What's wrong, Sander? I thought this is what we wanted." Opal looked at him with confusion in her eyes.

"My brother— he has some sort of scheme cooked up, I'm sure." Opal glanced sympathetically at her mate and reached out a hand to massage his back.

"You worry too much," she sighed as she worked down a path of tense muscle.

"I've lived on this Earth for centuries," Sander stated calmly. "And I know when a person tells me not to worry, it's best to do the opposite." The alpha paused to glance a suspicious glare at his wife. "This is where you tell me what you're planning, wife."

"First," she huffed "I'm not your wife, and second, are you attempting to tell me that I'm not concern for our collective future?

"A few months ago you had only just met me. You had no issue telling me how this wouldn't work. How much you hated the idea of being mated to me, much less sharing my bed and now— now look at you. What's changed?"

"Everything," she responded simply.
