He told me to look at the sky
To tell him what I saw

So I looked up
Inspecting the world above me
"I see the moon and stars,"
I told him plainly

"Where you see stars
I see your sparkling eyes."

He told me to listen to a melody
And tell him what I heard

I listened to the tune
Tapping my foot to the music
"I hear instruments and vocals,"
I answered

"Where you hear
Instruments and vocals
I hear your voice."

I tried looking for him
Listening for him
But I didn't see the boy
The way he saw me

He saw me
In all things beautiful
He heard me
In all things extraordinary

He was a paragraph
In my book

While I took up
All of his pages
