"Yes grandpa, we'll be there in a couple minutes....No, I'm not driving, it's against your orders, remember?....Yes I trust his driving skills...No I'll get my car later....It's not that I don't think you need a baby sitter, I think that you can't remember how to turn on the oven..Yep I am a comdiean, love you too." Mags finally hangs up the phone, I watched as she went from a sweet loving voice to an anoyed voice and back in just a mater of ten minutes. "Sorry" she says putting her phone into her bag.
"It's all good" I say following her directions to take a right here and a left there, "So I'd say we made excellet progress today." I say looking at her for a second before turning back to the road.
"Hmm?" She asks focus on something out the window.
"Well during the last week lets recall what happend, Monday you went to party with Cole and then we kissed but you stayed and didn't leave me which I have to admit hurt me," I say laughing it off. "Tuesday I started working with you and as much as I tried to talk to you, you ingored me and put a stop to all conversations, wednesday rumors started to fly that you were mine but you weren't, and here we are today I beat the shit out of a team mate for you, you meet my mother, and we have are pet names assigned and chosen."
She laughs, "Jared, I'm sorry I avoided talking to you but this all happend so quick, I mean one day you pull me into a corner in the hallway and the next I'm using Cole to get to you."
"I accept your apolgie, baby but on one condition"
"If this is a bad condition I will just screw my apoligie and move on with my life, just so you know."
"I beileve you." I say laughing a little, Mags seems like she would be the type that if she didn't like the terms of agreence, she would just screw the contract and move on with her life, "Let me take you on a date, just one, a chance for you to see who I really am." I say.
"I don't know the rumors are already bad" I pull out my pouty face and she laughs, "God, you are full of yourself, I don't maybe I'm not done playing hard to get." She says and we both laugh, "Okay, fine one date."
"Really only two jokes and a fine, are you becoming a push over on my baby"
"Well now Im not you have no idea what you just did, Jared you challenged me and well honey I don't lose, just so you know" We laugh and are eyes meet for a second before she looks away and returns her stare to whatever is outside the window.
"Now who's full of themselves" I say pulling into her drive way. She has a ranch style house thats about medium size, I help her out of the car and she takes the keys out of her backpackk as we walk up the stairs to her door and she unlocks it.
"Grandpa" She says as soon as we enter and an arm reaches up from a chair in the living room. "Hi, How was work?" She asks going over to hug him. When she stands back up she waves me over and I obedantly follow her directions coming to stand next to her. "Grandpa, this is Jared, Jared this is my Grandfather, I'll be right back, gramps would you try to be invinting" Mags says as she exits the room.
"You play football" He ask, as soon as she clears the door way to another room. His voice shocks me at first as you can tell he is old from it and it almost sounds like he's in pain, I can't imagine arguing with him if he always sounds like it but maybe Mags is imuned to it.
"Yes sir" I say before too much time passes, "I'm the quaterback on our school team, and I hoping to get a scholarship from it" I don't know if I should add sir to the end of that. Something about him, the way he's so calm makes it nerve racking to talk to him, like you don't want to mess up.
"Oh, that Jared, Johnson, right" And here it was the thing like fame when you were a football player if you played in either the local high school or the local colledge everyone knew you, they didn't even have to watch football to know, just have heard about you.
