I reached for my phone on the table beside me, as it rang. When I say Mags name I couldn't help but smile, "What baby, could you not go twelve hours without talking to me?" I asked before even saying hello.

"You're so funny, you should really be a comedian when you grow up" Her voice said teasing me right back. I laughed and so did she before backgroud noise starting happening and Holly had tooken over the phone.

"Jared, darling, your girl Tanny who's not yours anymore because Mags is" I smiled at this but heard Mags in the background say something like, god damn it Holly give me the phone back, "No!' Holy shouted right back, then Mrs.Wila, the librain's voice came reminding Holly that it was a library after all, "God speaking of Mags she's bitchy today have you not been sastifying her" I laughed and I'm pretty sure Mags starting banging her head against a wall, "So," Holly started getting back on task, "Tanny got all up in Mags face today in fifth period and Mags handed it right back to her, basically the drama and gossipe is real here."

"Holly can you please give the phone back to Mags?" I requested through my teeth, I swear to god if Tanny touched Mags. Plus I knew Mags was bad with details but I didn't want to get information from Holly who had a talent of over exaturating things.

"Fine, I get you want to talk to your girl, but just so you know before you figure out this whole 'we're complicated' thing you should know she's terrible with details". Holly said handing the phone over to Mags. Trust me I know Mags was terrible with details, this morning I was texting her asking her about what Cole had said before I arrived, but she was so vage.

"I'm sorry about Holly," Mags said as soon as she got the pone. Holly made some sart ass comment in the background but Mags ingored it.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, no punches were thrown, just words and a little bit of Tanny's spit" She said with a giggle, I was glad she still had her sense of humor. Tanny could be a real bully as well as a bitch. I knew Mags could handle it though if there was one thing she wasn't it was weak. "Holly thought I should call you because of course the fight was about you, did you know that I should go running back to Cole because you're just using me to make Tanny jealous." I didn't hear any worry in her voice but just incase I said,

"Baby you know that's not true, right?"

"Of course I know that,"  She said sternly.

"Hey, come over here after school, so we can talk about us being complicated and go on that date you promised me, better yet I'll come get you from school." I said more or less changing the subject plus I was going to ask her over anyways, for the date I had planned.

"Jared I've gone long enough with out my car, I'll drive to your place." She replied. Holly made a coment in the background and though it wasn't clear I thought she said something along the lines of, I told you so. "Just, so you know I'm mad at you" Mags said after making a coment to Holly.

"Why's that?" I asked.

"You made me loose a bet with Holly" She said. I laughed and I think she may have even. The bell rang in the background and I new our conversation was over. "I got to go, see you after school" She said.

"Yeah see you then, bye baby" She hung up first.

I heard the front door open and close before the sound of heels clacking across the floor. "Jared please come help me with these bags." My mothers voice rings from the foyer. I get up and met her in the hallway and take her bags as she kisses me on the cheek, "Upstairs to my room, please". She replys.

I follow her instuctions and make my way upstairs before entering her room and putting the bags down on her bed. I notice my father's side table drawer is open and I go over to close it when I notice a burner phone in the back of it. Now I know it's wrong to snop but he's been weird lately so I open the phone and go through the messages.

"Jared? Are you hungry" My mother's voice startles me and I drop the phone back into the drawer before closing it and retreating downstairs. "How's your day been? What have you been up to?" My mother asks from the kitchean.

Following her voice I take a seat at the island, "Homework, oh and Mags called I believe we have a date schduled for tonight." I say as she hands me a glass of water. "Thanks" I muffle out and take a sip before setting it in front of me.

"I like her a lot Jared, and I'm sure your father will too, as soon as he meets her." She says opening the fridgerator and inspecting it. "Perphaps when he gets back from his trip Monday you should have her over for dinner."

I laugh for a second before reciving a stern look from my mother, "Why? Cause the last one went so well?" I ask.

"Jared Johnson, that smart ass attitude of yours is what got you suspended" She says getting food out and setting it on the counter, "I'm thinking saled for lunch, thoughts?" I only nod before she countinues getting stuff out of the fridge "Jared, I wans't kidding I do realy like Maggie don't let her get away from you, you've brought her out of hidding and now guys are going to be all over her."

I can't believe I'm having this conversation with my mother. "I know but she doesn't like being in the public eye so she's hesitant about being in a relationship with me." I reply with a shrug. God, here I am countinueing the conversatiion, I should've just stopped it while I had the chance.

"Well she likes you," Mom says getting out a large knife and starting to chop and dice vegatables and lettece. "She showed it when she deffended you at dinner, what was it last night?" I nod and I'd be surprised if she even saw it as her back was to me "I'm simply saying that Maggie seems like a good girl and one you need to not let go."

"Mom, I understand that." I say.

"I'm just making sure, " SHe respondes with a shrug, "You don't have the best track record with girls, I mean you always went for looks instead of brains, I'm glad you found a happy medium." She says with another shrug.

"Wait Mom, are you saying you don't think Mags is pretty?" I ask shocked by what she just said. Mags was deffinatly one of the best looking girls I'd ever seen if not the best.

"Well, she's certanity not ugly, don't get me wrong Jared," She said putting her cut ingerdients into a bowl. "But honey, she's kind of short, Tanny had those long legs, plus she's all dark I mean dark hair, dark eyes, heck even her skin has a tanned look to it, Tanny's light features balanced out your darker features." She said with yet another shrug.

"Let me get this straight did we not just go about talking about how I shouldn't let Mags get away to talking about how I looked better with Tanny? I thought you hated Tanny, you said you loved Mags because she actually wanted to talk to you, what happend to 'Jared you don't have the best track record with girls' huh?" I ask in a mocking tone.

"Honey, I know and I think Mag is very atractive but if I was going to enter you in a couples pagent then you'd look much better with Tanny, I'm just saying"

"What the hell mom? I think this is the most shallow thing I've ever heard you say, you want me to chose apperance over personality? Is that it? Because either way I'd chose Mags over Tanny." I say raising my voice.

"Jared, I didn't mean to ofeend you I was simply putting my opion out there I'm sorry I think you took it the wrong way, I really do like Maggie can we just forget about the conversation we just had? It was a little all over the place." SHe says in a sweet as pie voice adding a fake smile at the end of her sentence.

"No Mom we can't you damn right that conversation was all over the place, what the hell is wrong with you, you've been saying things like I've always hated Tanny and now next thing I know, Tanny is a better choice then Mags?" I ask hoping off my chair.

Mom trys to say something but I cut her off, "No you know what I'm going to leave, call me when you've figured out whether you like Mgas or not, by the way I've alreeady made up my mind so it doesn't really matter." I say heading for the door.

"Jared will you come back here, " My mothers voice says with a hint of panick as heels click behind me, "Please come on Jared lets have lunch and talk about this." She says as I reach the door.

"Nothing left to talk about." I say closing the door behind me.
