Chapter 10

After Christmas Break

I walk into school confident as ever, Serpent Jacket slung over my shoulder as I make my way to the library but not before running into Veronica and Archie having a kiss
"You guys are so cute, it's disgusting" I say and they laugh.
"Students of Riverdale High, this is your principal speaking. Emails have been sent to your parents but effective immediately, Southside High School is shut down. It's students will be transferred to other schools in the district, including this one. I believe the statement we're releasing will address your concerns. You should be receiving it shortly, I'm sure you have many questions. It goes without saying we are welcoming these students with open minds, hearts and arms" Principal Wetherbee says

After School I find myself back in the garage writing and rehearsing before heading to the White Wyrm.
"LILY!!!" I hear Toni scream before bringing me into a bone crushing hug.
"Hey Toni. I can't breathe girl" I say and she releases me
"I haven't seen you since before Christmas" she says
"Hey Lil" I hear Fangs say from behind wrapping an arm around my shoulders
"Hey Fangs" I say and he hugs me
"Little Lily" I hear FP say
"Hey FP" I say pulling from Fangs and FP pulls me in for a hug
"You're not straying from us now, are you?" he asks
"Just needed some me time" I say and he nods as we pull away before I see Jughead watching us. He and I sorted our crap, so we're all good and my dad told him about the tantrum I had over Christmas Break.
"You gonna stand there or are you gonna give your best friend a hug" I say and he smiles
"Did you hear the news?" Fangs asks as Jughead and I part
"Yeah, Southside High closed down. So which schools are you going to?" I ask
"Riverdale High" I hear Sweet Pea say and I avert my eyes to him for a second before looking at anyone or anything other than him
"So not only will my best friend be coming back but my best gal is coming to Riverdale?" I ask
"You know it" she says
"Yay" I say and she smiles at my excitement
"I'm coming too" Fangs says with a pout
"Aww Honey, you know I can't wait for you to join me in my classes" I say
"What about me?" Sweet Pea asks and I walk away from him
"Don't push her Pea" Toni says once she thinks I'm out of earshot

The Next Day

As a Serpent, I lead the Welcoming committee for all the Southside High kids with Veronica.
They walk up to the table and I can feel Sweet Pea's stare on me
"Friends, on behalf of the students and faculty here at Riverdale High, Welcome to your new school" she says
"To ease up this transition Lily and I have set up a registration desk, where you can get locker assignments, class schedules and a list of sports and extracurricular's" she says
"We encourage each and every one of you to join and drink deeply from the cup that is fair Riverdale" she says
"Stand down Eva Peron" Cheryl calls out
"Kill me now" I say as I see Cheryl, Reggie, some River Vixens and Bulldogs descend the staircase
"There's the school spirit I so fondly remember" Jughead says and I smirk at him before turning to Cheryl, Reggie and their crew
"Cheryl, no one invited Fascist Barbie to the party" I say
"Wrong Lily, no one invited Southside Scum to our school" she says
"Listen up ragamuffins, I will not allow Riverdale High's above average GPA to suffer because of classrooms that are overcrowded with underachievers. So please, do us a favor and find some other school to debase with your hardscrabble ways" Cheryl says
"Why don't you come over here and say that to my face?" Toni asks stepping closer to Cheryl
"Happily, Queen of the Buskers" Cheryl says
"Back off Cheryl" I say
"Okay guys. Everyone. Can we just put our Northside - Southside differences apart and start over? A new slate" Archie asks
"You don't speak for the Bulldogs, Andrews. And need I remind you these greaser snakes showed up at your place trying to kick your ass" Reggie says
"Reggie" I growl at him
"Happy to finish what was started" Sweet Pea says and I put my hands on his chest pushing him back with Jughead and the rest of the Serpents
"Sweet Pea" I say
"I am so over the toxic masculinity in this hallway right now" Veronica says
"Alright that's enough pomp and circumstance. Everyone lets get to class. Now" Principal Wetherbee says and I grab Toni's hand leading her to her locker which is next to mine as well as Sweet Pea's whose locker is next to mine on the other side
"Scared that I'm gonna hurt your precious Bulldog?" Sweet Pea asks
"Really Sweets" Toni says as we walk to class together

Later us Serpents are hanging out and Wetherbee comes in the common room to tell us Serpents to follow him.
"Which of you defaced our school seal with this graffiti?" he asks
"This is what they do Principal Wetherbee. They tag their turf" Reggie says
"Oh my god Reggie could you be any more transparent?" Veronica says and I go to run at him but I'm lifted off the floor and see Sweet Pea holding me off the ground so I can't run at Reggie
"Let me at him, let me at him" I say
"Put her down Pea" Jughead says and I'm let down to my feet
"You calm now?" he asks me and I nod
"Effective Immediately: No gang behavior of any kind will be tolerated in my school. As of this moment, no more Serpent Jackets" Principle Wetherbee starts
"What?" Sweet Pea asks
"Unbelievable" Fangs says
"Are you kidding me?" Jughead asks
"No more Serpent Jackets. All tattoo's are gonna be covered. Possession of any gang paraphernalia will lead to immediate suspension. Are we clear?.. That's all" he says and I find it's my turn to be rough with Reggie as I grab his arm and lead him to the boys locker rooms
"What the hell Lily?" he asks and I push him
"I could ask you the same" I say and push him again
"If you need me to be your punching bag so be it. Let me have it" he says
"I thought you were happy for me" I say
"Well that doesn't mean I want them here" he says and I punch him in the gut
"You're unbelievable" I say and walk out.
