Prologue
My name is Sky. I am 14 years old. I have long, slightly wavy, dark brown hair. My eyes are a very light blue. My usual outfit consists of black wedges or converse, blue or black jeans, and a wide spread choice of my two t-shirts ,with a black leather jacket. This is all I own, not including my messenger bag.
Chapter One The Beginning
I woke up to screaming upstairs. I ran up the stairs from the basement, almost forgetting to grab my messenger bag with my few belongings. It contains a pocket knife, a small computer, my sketchbook, colored pencils, regular pencils, my sucky phone, the phone's almost broken charger, and my one book. The one book I own is filled with tons of of dragons, big and small. I have had it since I was three and have treasured it ever since. I live in a small foster home with lots of children, ranging from two to seventeen. I live in the basement. On the left is a small little couch which I sleep on. I am an orphan, I never knew my mother or my father. I only know my parents died right after I was born. I try not to dwell on it too much. I have been here since I was born and it has always been the same. I have no friends here, I just do what I am told. I take my messenger bag wherever I go, since it's all I have.
I walked into the kitchen to see a kid Leah, blanketed in dirt.
"Uh, Why is Leah covered in mud!" I yelled.
"What? When did that happen?" said a girl named Lexi.
"Does anyone ever pay attention to the little kids." I muttered. "I am going to Starbucks!" I shouted.
"Ok I am busy. Go, go, go!" shouted Lexi in reply.
I ran outside and onto the sidewalk only to be bumped into by a old man.
"Excuse you." I snapped.
"Well, what are you doing?!" he shouted back.
"Trying to have a good day, till' you ruined it!" I yelled.
"Darling, please, I am in a hurry so move." he snapped back.
"Then why are you talking to me!" I screamed.
"I wasn't!" He snapped.
He shoved passed me. "Well then." I whispered and moved along.
Not long after my fight with the old person, I found a Starbucks. I ran in and got in line behind two teenage girls. I ordered a toffee nut latte and waited by the counter.
When I got it, I just sat at a table and sipped it until, an angry waiter came towards me. I panicked and ran out without paying...
Whoops.
As a couple of angry employees ran after me as I took to the streets. It was about a mile or so to downtown but nothing I couldn't handle. Once downtown I found a spot on a bus stop bench to catch my breath.
"What a day." said a voice beside me.
I looked over and saw a boy about eighteen. Startled, I let out a yelp and pulled out my pocket knife.
"Woah, Woah, Woah there miss no need freak-" I cut him off.
"What the heck are you doing, you just popped out of nowhere talking to me!" I yelled.
"Your hot." he said casually, smirking.
"Not happening" I snapped back.
"But why not? You could come with me, my names Marty." He says as he held out his hand.
"Well, uh, no thanks Marty." I said.
By this time I just wanted to leave
"See yah never!" I hollered as I ran off chasing a bus that had just departed.
I finally caught up to it.
"Excuse me." I shouted, gasping from the sprint I just edeavored.
"May I please get on?" I asked the driver.
"Oh come on your already here." the driver said motioning to the seats behind him.
Thank God! I thought to myself.
After about thirty minutes, I got off at the stop closest to the foster home.
I walked in the front door to find chaos. Joy.
"Uh, guys what's going on?" I asked.
"Nothing just cleaning up" said Sam, a blonde haired girl, about fourteen.
"Why is the room covered in mud prints?" I asked frustrated.
The kids got into mud with Leah." she said.
"Okay then." I walked to the nearest window and looked out.
"I am so dead" I mumbled.
Outside the window was my arch-nemesis Bridget Taylor. She has hated me since first grade. She walked with all her buddies down the street. And then she looked up right at me....
"What's up barf girl?" she yelled from the sidewalk.
"Gahhh!" I whispered "She had to talk." I said to myself.
She walked up to the window and put a hand on her hip.
"So, what's up slug" her friend asked.
"Hmm? What was that?" I asked and punched her in the jaw.
I haven't done that in a while. She seemed stunned.
"How dare you!" Bridget said infuriated.
She tried to punch me but someone grabbed her arm from behind.
I was shocked. I stared at the person who had grabbed her arm. He was cute, had striaght, brown hair, deep redish brown eyes, and was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans. He waved off Bridget and her friends. Then he gracefully jumped and slid through the open window.
"I'm James." he said, extending his hand. "And you are?"
"Uh...um...I'm Sky...how did you...?" I sputtered.
"They were getting annoying." he said as he led me down to an empty hallway.
"And your'e here because...?" I asked.
"Your not like a normal human, and I need to take you to a place called shadawn to become a Elemental." he whispered.
The next thing I knew, I saw a flash and blacked out....
