Before I knew it, there seemed to be dozens of people in the cabin. I couldn't believe how many could fit. Everyone was so close together, I could hardly breathe.
Then I saw a dark figure pass over the doorway. I heard the screams, but most were muffled by the loud music. Everyone was busy partying and not paying attention.
Then the screams came again. Louder, this time. People were starting to notice something unusual by now. Something was reaching long sharp claws into the cabin.
I ran from where Ally and I stood towards the door way. The Elementals shot fire and lightning at the thing. One bolt of lightning hit it in the face. It ran off shrieking into the woods.
I ran after it. Right before it disappeared, I realized it was a drakon. Of course, as I ran after it, I passed a very confused James.
I dashed into the woods after the Drakon.
"Where are you going!?" I heard James running after me.
I didn't answer, I just ran deeper into the woods. I reached the spot where I had met Amber earlier that day. The river flowed down through the woods. It was deeper in this part of the river. The water was almost black in the deepest part.
James finally caught up with me. Huffing and puffing he stood at my side.
"We should probably go, that thing could come back at any moment."
Just then, the Drakon burst out of the river. Barring it's teeth, it snarled and drooled.
"Get behind me." James said and grabbed my waist, pulling me behind him.
He pulled out his sword as the Drakon slithered onto land. He started to lunge at the Drakon, just missing it's dagger like claws. The Drakons claws nearly missed him every time.
I couldn't let him kill it, even if it did almost kill someone.
"Stop! Don't hurt it!" I shouted as I pulled James back.
"What are you doing!" he shouted as the Drakon advanced.
I ignored him, focusing on the Drakon. He made a low snarling sound at me.
"It's okay, we're not going to hurt you." I said in a soothing voice.
"We didn't mean to scare you, we don't wanna hurt you." I continued. The Drakon lowered his snarling, and slowly took careful steps towards me.
I held out my hand to the Drakon.
"Sky, what are you doing?" James whispered in a strained voice.
"Shut up!" I hissed.
The Drakon hesitated, I could see the mistrust in its eyes. I stepped toward it, slowly.
"It's ok." I coaxed. I gently laid my hand on the Drakon's snout.
I heard James gasp behind me.
I slowly stroked the Drakon. It began to purr softly.
"This is amazing" I said, still trying to breathe.
James came up behind me and reached around me. The Drakon huffed but let him touch his smooth scales. It licked his hand with a sand-papery tongue. He laughed softly.
He was so close to me. I could feel his chest rise and fall with each breath. I felt myself blush.
"We'd better head back or they'll think we were eaten." he said sarcastically.
"Ok, ok." I waved the Drakon off. It whimpered, but turned and tramped back into the water and disappeared. I turned to leave, but being my clumsy self, I tripped on a root sticking up from the ground.
James caught me, grabbing me by my hips. I blushed again.
"Are you ok?" he asked.
"Yeah." I squeaked.
We headed back to the party in silence. As we entered an angry voice greeted us.
"James!" A girl shouted angrily. "What have you been doing! And where have you been?!" she was infuriated.
She had blonde, crimped hair. She was tan and was wearing high heels. She had storm gray eyes which gave away her element. Even in the chilly weather, she wore a dark purple tank top and really short jean shorts.
"B-but.....I.....well....sh...she...she ran away." James stuttered dumbfounded. He had his shoulders shrugged up, gesturing at me.
"We needed your help! People are injured and panicked! We need your leadership skills!" She was definately annoyed.
"I'm sorry...?" I said questioningly.
"Jordyn." she snapped.
"Jordyn. I'm sorry it was my fault, I ran after a Drakon."
"Yeah it was awesome, she pet it and stuff!" James added excitedly.
Jordyn just stared at me, either with amazement or disgust.
"That's not possible! That Drakon nearly killed four people! It could have bitten her hand off!" Jordyn said, flustered, she crossed her arms over her chest and scowled at me.
"Your just jealous." James teased, smirking.
"I am not!" She said looking shocked, and then stormed out.
"I don't think she likes me" I said sadly.
"Don't worry, she will eventually. Everyone will." he smiled.
I blushed. "Well it's getting late, I'd better go."
"Oh, ok." he said, sounding disappointed.
"Goodnight." I said.
He kissed me on the cheek. "Goodnight." he whispered.
After that, I hurried to get away from him. I dashed back to my cabin as fast as my feet would carry me, a huge smile plastered on my face.
