She looked very fierce, proud, and full of mischief. She had whitish gray hair, but it didn't make her look old. Trailing along her side was something that surprised me.
A black lion.
It wasn't a panther, it was a giant black lion. It was solid black, with a mane as black as its body. I stared at it untill she spoke.
"Hello, my name is Lynn Richards, element darkness." she told me. She spoke with confidence, but didn't seem cocky.
The black lion rubbed against Lynn's legs. I couldn't look away until James elbowed me.
"Oh right, uh, Sky, element unknown." My voice didn't sound even close, to the confidence Lynn had.
"I'll take it from here James." she told him.
He let go off my hand and slowly walked away. Before he left he looked back over his shoulder. "See yah later Sky, and Lynn." he said.
Lynn walked me down a long trail as her lion followed her. The trail had clearly been walked by people many times. There were roots and rocks scattered around. I nearly tripped on one.
"What's the lion's name?" I asked, trying to get a conversation going.
"Dallas." she answered, "He's a shadow lion, only loyal to the Elementals of the Darkness or Shadow." she said proudly.
"Oh, cool." I said, shoving my hands and into my pockets.
We kept walking until we got to a huge building. It was all brick with a sign that said MAIN OFFICE.
"This is the main office, it's where all the cabin leaders come to make decisions." she said.
She lead me to an open area with some buildings that looked like cabins. There were about seven of them.
"Here are the cottages, or cabins. There are seven, one for each element. Those include Darkness, Storm, Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Ice." she pointed to each cabin as she listed them.
We first walked up to the biggest of the cabins, Storm. It was massive with big pillars and marble flooring. It was mostly purple and the pillars were white. The people inside waved to us. The front doors had bolts of lighting, which made me bring my hand to my temple. Although I didn't see Bridget in there, I knew I would have to face her eventually.
Next, was the Earth cabin. It was mostly green on the outside, it was not as crowded as the Storm cabin, but it was pretty close in size. It had vines on the outside, and plants grew all around it. The people inside seemed nice and waved at me. Most were gardening and tending to plants. There were a lot more beds than people in there.
"Why are there so many beds?" I asked, very curious for the answer.
"Oh, most of them work in the hospital during the day." She said matter-o-factly.
"Right." I said, feeling like an idiot.
Next was the Air cabin. The beds were mounted on the wall as if they were floating. There were a lot of people inside, about as much as earth would have, just in a smaller space. Some people were playing a card game. Although, instead of playing on the ground, they hovered in the air, it was really weird. Even so, I thought it might be fun to play.
The next cabin was Water. There was about half of the amount of storm in the Water cabin. It looked fresh and clean. It had a fountain and a pool out back. It was made of a soft blue coral. People waved as we passed with big smiles. They seemed really nice.
Then we saw the Fire cabin. It had about the same amount as Water, but felt warm and cozy. All the people in there, girls and boys, were welcoming James back in and seemed to be asking about me, as they pointed and whispered. It was a deep red color and had burning torches perched above the door. It shimmered as if it was burning hot. I waved as we passed them. Although it was to everyone, James smiled and waved back.
Lynn then showed me the Ice cabin. There was no one in there and she explained there hasn't been a child of Ice in over 1,000 years. It was a dark wood with light blue letters and it had a cozy feeling to it. It seemed pretty big, although it was probably because there was no one there.
Lynn showed me her home, the Darkness cabin, last. It was kind of small and had about half as many as Fire or Water. I saw about seven or eight kids, not including Lynn. It was black, a kind of charred wood. It had small lights hanging from wires on the walls, which were brown. It had about five sets of bunk beds.
"Well this is my home." Lynn said "And these are my siblings."
"Siblings??" I asked.
"Well not really. Just kind of like, step-siblings, you know?" she said, obviously struggling with the explanation.
"Yeah, I guess so." I answered.
She walked me down the trail back to the center of the camp. There was a huge campfire with plenty of logs or regular chairs situated around it. I spotted a weapons shop on the other side of the campfire. I was about to ask Lynn if I could go in, when something shimmered on my chest. It was a snowflake, about as big as basketball️. I saw people around us stop and stare.
"Huh...wha...I..." I stuttered, unable to form words.
Lynn gasped and stared in awe. "Sky, your an Ice!"
