Abducted

Chapter 2.

Geraldo Hartland had always been the head of his family since the death of his father.
His business dealings and interpersonal skills, kept him afloat.
He intended to keep it that way.

Marina, the mother of his precious daughter was the love of his life.
His wife had given him a precious baby girl, whom he vowed never to part with.
Both of them meant the world to him.
Honest and hardworking, he knew that the jealousy of some of his co workers, knew no bounds.
His business acumen, beautiful family and magnificent home, were causes for closed door whispers.
Promptly at 8.30 a.m, a mere twenty minutes after speaking with his wife, the ringing of his cell phone drew his attention.
He smiled in secret amusement, as he retrieved his phone from his jacket pocket, for he recognised the special tone.
"Hello honey."
"The baby, Geraldo.....the baby!"
Geraldo could have barely made out his wife's words.
"Babes, what is it? What is wrong?"
He could distinctly hear her sobs.
"Marina, answer me, what's wrong with Serena?" Geraldo shouted.
"She is gone! Some...one....took her." Marina screamed.
"What do you mean she is gone? Gone where?"
Alarm raced through Geraldo.
"Someone stole her from the pram!"
Panic took hold of every fibre of his being.
Sobbing out of control, Marina explained the events which took place after she spoke with him.
"Marina, call the police now! I am on my way!"
"I already did!" she screamed in reply.
"I am on my way home honey, hold on, I will be right there!"
Grabbing his briefcase, Geraldo exited the office.
He descended the stairs two at a time for the elevator would have taken too long.
He needed to be on the move.
Without a backward glance at his astonished colleagues, he raced out to his rental.
The rain had washed it clean.
Geraldo never noticed as he ran into the car.
With the door still open, he drove away from the curb, heading to the Airport with the speed of the wind behind him.
