Marina sat at the table, contemplating on the afternoon's events.
Recalling the actions of her decoy, she smiled to herself.
Mr. Ralston's secretary was probably confused as to who the woman was and why had she swarmed into the office, accusing her of stealing her husband.
Grinning, Marina told herself if that was the best the decoy could have done, it was all good with her.
Turning her gaze on the file, Marina wondered if she was ready for any strange disclosures, if there was any to be revealed.
The nightmare was still too real after over three years, but it had happened to her family and they had to live through it.
Marina knew deep down in her soul that little Marina was alive, out there somewhere.
With an ache she wondered if her baby had outgrown her plumpness.
"When I find out who stole my baby, there will be hell to pay."
She wanted desperately to call Geraldo to tell him that she had the file, so that he could be at her side, when she opened it.
Deciding against calling him, she again glanced at the file.
Tentatively opening the folder, the first item which came into view was a pic of baby Selena.
Marina choked back her sob.
There were other glossy photos.
Some with Geraldo's co workers as they went about their daily routine.
Her mom shopping with friends.
Pics of the Hartland family, with a circle drawn around the face of Geraldo's twin brother.
Other pics of persons whom she did not recognise.
Marina was filled with so many different emotions.
Her trip that afternoon was a waste after all.
She needed time.
Time to think.
Time to plan.
The ringing of the phone interrupted her thoughts.
She snatched the cell phone praying it was news of Serena.
"Hello?"
A male voice enquired "Is this Serena Hartland?"
Hesitantly she responded "Yes it is!"
"I am Sergeant Prescott, is anyone there with you?"
"Yes, I mean no! Just tell me. Did you find my baby? Is she okay?"
"No Mrs. Hartland, It is your husband. He is dead!"
Marina froze.
"What did you say?"    "Ma'am is it possible that you come to the morgue to identify the body?"
The full impact of what she was being told  struck Marina.
The phone slid from her grip!
Screams filled the huge void of the massive house.
"Ma'am, Ma'am are you ok. Is there someone whom we can call?"
But Marina did not hear.
Her screams echoed and bounced back at her.
Her husband Geraldo was dead.
Her baby had vanished and her heart was broken into tiny fragments.
The pain was too excruciating to put it back together again.
