Marina's mother was scared and sick with worry.
Her sweet adorable granddaughter, had been snatched by a stranger.
Grandma Catarina, hugged her daughter to her chest as they both sobbed uncontrollably.
Their neighbour Sara, a close friend of Marina since childhood, doled out refreshments, to the other concerned neighbours.
Marina's lovely brown face was now haggard and distraught.
Her brown eyes were a pool of fear and anxiety.
Catarina was at a total lost.
She was of no help to her daughter, for she too was in a lot of emotional pain.
She was relieved when Geraldo rushed through the door.
Quickly escaping the room, she dove into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.
Catarina gave vent to all her pent up emotions as the hours clicked by since Serena was taken.
Geraldo was experiencing the worst day of his life.
His daughter had been abducted.
Her would be attacker seemed to have vanished into thin air.
Scared and shaken, he tried his best to be a comfort to his wife.
The never ceasing questions by the Police Officers, did not help much as his wife was forced to relive that morning's experience over and over again.
As afternoon progressed into evening, Geraldo's heart sank, as fresh tears erupted from his family members.
Marina continued to sit, not speaking, not eating.
Just staring into space, paralyzed with fear as darkness began to scatter.
Catarina felt helpless, but thanked God for her son- in-law.
He seemed to have control over the entire situation.
When her daughter had met Geraldo, Catarina had not been too happy, even though she was quite aware that he was the son of a wealthy banker.
That did not phase her.
At six feet in height, Geraldo had curly black hair, brown eyes and a serious manner.
His mother in law thought he was just boring rich at thirty years.
Nevertheless, as the years flew by, she found herself warming to his charm.
Not wanting to waste time on pointless reminiscing, Catarina began to pray for the safe return of her granddaughter.
Marina and baby Serena were her life's blood.
Catarina pledged to herself that she would do whatever it took, for Serena's safe return.
"Who took my Granddaughter?
Catarina asked herself as she prayed and sobbed trying to ease her aching heart.
