Doctors, Us, or Otherwise

I stirred, noticing I was leaning against something firm but warm.  I snuggled closer before realizing I didn't actually know what it was I was leaning against and my eyes flew open.  I was staring up at Reid, carrying me with one arm around my shoulders and the other hooked under the crook of my knees.

Startled, I exclaimed sleepily, "Reid, what the hell?" and pushed away from him, successfully making him drop me.

I landed on my feet, shoving him away with a hand on his chest, but he kept his arm around my shoulders and Morgan ushered me back towards Reid, "Hey, take it easy McDowell?"

"Wha?" I asked, not even able to complete the word because my vision suddenly blurred out and a prick of pain blossomed from the back of my head.  My brain ached, and I touched a hand to my forehead as if that could keep my head from spinning and stop me from teetering into Reid.

"Hey, stop," Reid commanded softly, holding me still.

My head had now started pounding, and it was getting steadily worse, flashing spots of light across my blurred vision with each beat inside my skull.

Morgan's voice sounded far away when he suggested, "We should let her lay down," and then Reid must have helped me over to the couch.

I dropped heavily onto it and he gently pushed me back until I was laying down.  I groaned in pain, throwing an arm over my eyes to block out the light I was suddenly staring into.

"You think she'll be all right?" Reid's voice floated above me, followed by Morgan's gruffer one, "Yeah. It might take her a while, though.  You know she doesn't like doing what she's told, by doctors, us, or otherwise."

I wanted to laugh at that, I guess cause it was true, but I didn't.  My head already hurt so much I couldn't even muster myself to argue, much less laugh.

Maybe taking a nap would help, and I let my eyes drift shut under the comforting weight of my arm, listening to Morgan and Reid's voices conversing above me.
