Note to Readers: This is a modified scene from the episode "Lauren" in season 6 so if you haven't gotten that far there might be some minor spoilers.

"You know when a cigarette is best?" Their suspect, a man with known Irish mafia connections, took a long drag and let the smoke trickle from his lips like the sly smile on his face.  He took a step closer to McDowell.  "Right after sex with me."

"Mind your manners."  Rossi's sharp tone made the man, Fahey was his name, flinch.

McDowell shot him a glare, her hand on her hip where her gun usually was.  They were working with the CIA and therefore out of the CIA office so, as visitors, they weren't allowed to have their weapons on them.  The problem was that they thought the person who had leaked the information connected to Prentiss's sudden disappearance was a member of the CIA, which is why they were talking to Fahey on the roof.

"What's it like?" With a glance from Rossi, McDowell softened her threatening tone.  "Working for Doyle?"  Rossi could still see the complete disgust in her eyes, vinegar to the honey coming out of her mouth.

"He's not so tough."  Fahey jutted out his chin and took another drag.

"You're his hookup?  The man?"  This guy had better give them info quick or she was going to deck him.

A slimy smile crossed his face.  "I could show you how much of a man I really am, sweetheart."

Rossi took a step forwards, his glare colder than McDowell's, and Fahey cringed back.  "All right, all right."  He held his hands up defensively, the cigarette still cocked between his fingers.  "What is it with the sexy cop-bad cop--"

A crack rang through the air, splattering McDowell with blood as Fahey staggered back with a grunt.  Rossi's head swiveled, looking for the sniper as another bullet rang out, a plume of blood that matched the one over Fahey's heart blooming from his forehead.

"Down!" Rossi pulled McDowell into his chest as he dragged her to crouching, Fahey falling to the rooftop in front of them with a solid thud. Dead.

A third shot exploded over their heads, and they both cringed away from it, Rossi tucking McDowell's head into his arms.  They scurried towards the entrance, ducking from another shot before making it inside.

Security took over and they returned to the conference room, Rossi alerting the rest of the team that someone had just killed their only lead to finding Prentiss.  McDowell was scrubbing at a spot of blood on her shirt with a damp paper towel when he got back to the conference room.

He sighed and sat down on the corner of the table, facing her.  "You know that's not going to come out."

She sighed and threw the paper towel on the table.  "I know."

"Come on." Rossi held out a hand and McDowell glanced at it.  "Let's get you a new shirt. We still have a case to solve."

She grabbed his hand, pulling herself to her feet.  Though they were down a suspect, Prentiss's life still depended on their ability to solve the case, so that's what they were going to do.
