"How's your dad doing?" James asked as I sawed another tree in half.

"Eh, same old same old. I suppose." I answered loudly over the chainsaw.

"And your woman, how is she?" He picked up half of the log and pulled it into the wood chipping machine.

"Not mine anymore, I don't guess." I said sadly.

"Go get her." He acted like it was the most simple thing.

"It's not that easy." I said standing up and wiping the sweat from my forehead.

"Let me tell you something. Life is only as complicated as you make it. Decisions are always easy when you listen to your heart, it's your brain that starts making everything complicated. If you want her back, as a man, you must admit that you were in the wrong. You can't stand back and wait until she comes running back to you. That may happen in all those action films you watch, but this is reality. Girls need reassurance and they need the men to be men and apologize." He slipped his safety glasses back on leaving me in thought.

"Damn it." I muttered. I looked down at my hand and it was bleeding profusely. I went to the boss's office and wrapped my finger up.

"Boy, you look sicker everyday." I looked up at him confused.

"That looks like the kinda sick you can't fix with a couple of antibiotics. It's a woman." He continued. I held back the sudden urge to roll my eyes.

"Now, if you don't take the rest of the day off and fix whatever is making you messed up, don't even bother coming back tomorrow. "

"What are you saying, sir?" I asked as I stood the rest of the way up.

"I'm saying you've been working here for a little over two weeks now. You look more miserable than anyone I have ever seen." He winked at me and ushered me through the door.

I looked back confused but knew what I had to do. "Mace." Her name sounded foriegn on my tongue. It had been a month since I had seen her. I didn't know how much more I could take. I know they say that time makes it better, it doesn't. It makes it a million times more difficult to do anything but wait for her to come home.

"If Mace is the girl who's got you like this. Go, now." I nodded at the boss and ran to my truck.
